The idea that a serious corporation would use some kiddie scripter to test their network is a joke. Hacking, as you call it makes up only about 10% of the entire cyber-security field. A more valued skill is having a thorough understanding of computer networks and operating systems and designing them in a way to make them more resilient to attack, and having good back-up systems, etc. Router hardening, switch security, server security using a layered approach, where layers of security are laid one upon another is a sought after skill. The penetration testing team is made up of fellow team members who will poke and prod to see what weaknesses they can find, and write up a detailed report and present it to management - Kiddie Scripters who've been watching too many episodes of Mr. Robot need not apply.

I think the question has more to do with whether we’ll be trying Putin at The Hague for blocking, “legal information spreading,” and trying to make it a crime in the first place? It does require penetrating security measures to do it at this scale, especially if any of it is specific or targeted? And, if it’s not a crime, the enemy can, “legally,” do the same to us. Money is so very important, even though I can't help but feel I haven't given enough. The need is so huge, it's not like all these displaced people have jobs to go to on Monday. I cancelled my upcoming trip to Greece in order to donate, (plus it didn't feel right to go on holiday right now) and have taken an extra job so I can give more.
