Thank you, I love when people provide so much detail on their method! My only request would be that if you make more of these, please provide a table at the end with all of the results.

It seems that a shear force test would be helpful as well, when I think of the things I use adhesive for direct tension is rarely the force it needs to resist. Shock resistance might also be helpful. I use your videos as a reference for my work and really appreciate them

Use my videos as a reference for your work? I'm not sure that's a good idea... LOL What kind of work do you do? 😎

I'm in the boat building business and we bond HDPE to fiberglass using Bostik marine adhesive 940A. I tested many adhesives and this one is the best. But it only comes in industrial sausages.

For how long did you mix the two-part products? Also, please note that they should not be mixed on an absorbent surface like paper or cardboard.

Excellent demo. I need something that works to some degree, not necessarily the cure-all. I hope to be bungee jumping again soon.😳

💯Just a helpful tip.💯 1.) Take a flame torch and put it on the lowest setting. 2.) Then proceed to flame prep the surface for bonding by taking the flame across the entire surface you plan to bond by moving back and forth in a nice slow pace. You want to do this for at least a good 2-3 seconds. 3.) NOTE: Doing this against a sandblasted surface will increase your bond 10 fold. 4.) After flame prepping your bonded surface, the surface should have change to a matte finish, not a semi gloss finish. Glossy finish means you held the flame in one area too long causing the HDPE to melt. 5.) After all of that has been accomplished, you have a 15min window to get the surface wetted out with adhesive/glue. 6.) Apply clamp force and remove when everything has cured or hardened(handling time). 7.) This goes for bonding HDPE to HDPE or HDPE to Metallic. 8.) So your test, if you repeat it all of the items used, will increase significantly. 9.) I'm happy to help 💚

👍🏻 Very interesting, thanks! I recently came across a video where the builder prepared the surface of an HDPE waterski by blasting it for a few seconds with a blow-torch, then successfully bonded some fibreglass modificationd to it with regular fibreglass resin. The heat was just to treat the surface, which was then allowed to cool before attaching the fibreglass mods. I wonder if the heat treatment would make a difference to your adhesive tests?

Must try Infinity MMA500. Game changer. $30 per 50ml 2 component structural adhesive. For PP and PE.

For cheaper method, I suggest to use some metal wool (or net) that entangled in the HDPE surface by heat and then you can get best result with even any glue.

I was left wondering about some of the poor performers, and whether they were not fully cured because they required more exposure to the atmosphere than they got being tightly sandwiched between plastic bottle caps. When they broke loose, was any of the glue still wet?

Also look up HPDE welding, it uses hot air and a HPDE rod to blond them together
