I was only 6 or 7 years old when I first visited the UK. Hadrians Wall left a BIG impression on me. It was so so old in my mind as a child, much older than anything I’d ever seen in the United States. That was the first time I experienced the vastness of time. History lovers - you know the feeling I’m talking about!

I doubt he actually walked that entire distance. Did you see any tent on his back, or a backpack large enough to carry several days worth of food and water, or any change of clothes? Most likely he was flown via helicopter to select points along his intended track.

I also recommend the "fall of ancient civilizations podcast," on KZbin, and other services... They have an episode, on a topic similar to this one, that you should start with..called, "Fall of Roman Britain," I had found and watched it on KZbin, on the "Fall of Ancient Civilizations Podcast," channel. After you listen to it, ya can check the rest out! You can listen to it in your car, or when you would normally listen to audio...(like when you'd listen to an audiobook or music/podcast etc.) It is a great audio only history source. Same the KZbin channel.."Voices of the Past." Which is narrative audio reading of many primary sources..If you visit that channel, and check out related channels...You can find a few really high quality historical topic channels! All the channels are made by two brothers and their friends...I think. Either way.. do check it out, and recomend to others!! Feel free to throw any recommendations you have, towards me as well! :) I have health issues and disabilities...so historical content means a lot to me! I wish I could find, some great content, from other female history fans...like myself! All I have found is the BBC affiliate female historiacal content hosts. =/

In 2016, I had the pleasure of walking Hadrian’s wall. It was a true adventure! I had,around my neck,carried in a little leather pouch,a Roman coin,with the image of Hadrian on it. I like to think that he brought me good luck,as it did not rain one single drop during my 10 day hike! I shall never forget that experience.

Also,I found,on the ground,a few little crumbles from the wall,which had those ubiquitous lichens on them. I took a few(which I shouldn’t have) and to this day,they are alive and well,thriving next to a fig Bonsai in my home,a beautiful reminder,in fact,a part of the wall itself.

Hadrians Wall was built to keep the Barbarian tribes north. The Romans sent soldiers to guard the wall and when they stopped guarding the wall the Barbarian tribes rebelled. Boudica rebelled against the Romans in 60 AD and conquered London by 61 AD before being exiled. In the following years, the tribes ended up chasing the Romans out of Britain.
@nb9419
@nb9419 3 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! Well, the actual truth was that the Romans found nothing of interest there. They were very good warriors and were very well organised, unlike the Celtic tribes. In Asturies, for item, there were the best gold sources of Europe and they fought the Celts there... It took them 200 years, losing many battles and it cost them bringing their best legions, their best generals and even the emperor himself and finally succeeded. Their aim was the gold, obviously, otherwise they would have retreated as well. I love Celtic tribes and hate the Romans, but the actual truth is that they were cunning and clever. 😉Please take no offence of this.

It annoys me that he say that Wallace was Scotland's "Braveheart". That was actually Robert the Bruce, the term comes from the fact that after his death the cut out his heart and took it to a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Never take history lessons from Mel Gibson.
