My father in law Professor David Shotter who passed away 12 months ago was the man on Roman History and archeology and Friday just gone had a talk in honour of him in Carlisle. He would have loved this gents. Great show again and keep em coming 👍

Brilliant video Maff. Really enjoyable watch, and whether it is doing this or carp fishing, I always enjoy your vlogs and the banter between the three of you. Congratulations to Andy, Dave and yourself on giving us a brilliant video.

Thanks Ken I was disappointed with the lack of footage mainly due to having to stop to get the camera out of the bag etc. However i have now bought a go pro so its much easier to film on the go and have been out a few times testing that out and its a better solution than the bigger clunky camera. thanks again. regards Matt.

It was a tough one Paul for sure and despite the lack of footage this is one of my favourite videos to date. its very easy to focus on one subject which would bring in more subscribers but as you know thats not my intension with this channel and its great to re watch these videos and the memories made at the time. This was a big bucket list tick for me and to bring those two nutters along with me was awesome and made it even more special . regards Matt

I really enjoyed this video! Glad you had a good time and the tips were great - especially the one to do it at your own pace. My aim was to walk it as slow as possible to enjoy it. The only thing I disagree with is that there is ‘nothing to see’ at the beginning and end. There’s no Wall but those sections are fantastic in my view. The Solway Firth and River Eden in days one and two and the bridges in Newcastle at the end are great. But I enjoyed it all.

Not so much footage of the wall more of a pub crawl video but what an amazing time we had, so glad we did this and i have always wanted to do it. I did try to show a different kind of Harridans wall walk video something a little different from the rest and I'm real glad you enjoyed it thank you 😊👍 keep up your videos, regards Matt

Thanks Barry I had intended to try and do a different style of Harridans wall walk video but I must admit I was personally disappointed with the lack of footage mainly due to having to stop to get the camera out of the bag every time and the last thing we wanted to do was stop, as it took ages to get going again but we all loved this trip despite the pain. Im glad you liked the video, and a new go pro has dealt with the camera and tripod issue Thank you for your comment regards Matt

Good effort lads. Yeah, Twice Brewed is amazing for food and drink. Your in my neck of the woods . Rode it,walked it and always imagine those Ronans stagging on and staring into the horizon. They must have been freezing in the bad weather.

LOL I agree Colin not knowing if your going to get hit front the front or back freezing your knackers off day after day I'm glad my stagging on days are well in the past. also a sharp shock to remind me im not that young anymore LOL 🤣

Fair play doing it that quick,it was better than the usual Hadrian's wall videos, less scenery more hops just the way I like it😁 who'd have thought Dave would have come through unscathed,he truly is a fine specimen 😁 obviously one of those mates who can do anything.......😂

I had intended to try and do a different style of Hardrians wall walk video but I was disappointed with the lack of footage mainly due to having to stop to get the camera out of the bag every time so the solution has been an additional purchase of a go pro which im practicing with and is working out just fine. Dave is a great mate and wouldn't admit to struggling even if he was lol we all felt it but we all loved it. The stashes were perfect and really made the trip as the lads didnt know what was in them so it was a little surprise for them to see what i had hidden. would love to do that again. Ive re watch our end of day chats a few times now and this is one of my favourite look back videos which in all honesty is why i do them in the first place. thanks for coming along on this one Phil. great memories made.

17:30 where you are stood was actually the roman fort Uxelodunum over looking the Eden, the biggest one across the entire wall. Luckily its not now so i can get into town without paying some denari.

As we got close to bridge a local chap stopped us and told us about the fort over the other side. I didn't know it was the biggest one or its name so thank you for the heads up, I like that fact 😊 cheers. Overall great experience would do it again. Regards Matt

Hello John I was also disappointed with the lack of footage and i wish i had filmed a lot more but this was mainly due to having to stop to get the camera out of the bag etc. It was also hard to stop as you had to get going again and that hurt LOL 🤣I also realised very quickly we didn't have a lot of time to film However i have now bought a go pro, so its much easier to film on the go and have been out a few times testing that out. it is certainly a better solution than the bigger clunky camera and tripod. We all enjoyed it and sense of achievement this has given us and actually made this my favourite video of our antics. I look back with very fond memories Thanks for your comment John kind regards Matt 👍

By the 3rd and 4th centuries, most of the troops on the Wall were not legionaries but federated or auxiliary troops. These could come from anywhere in the Empire. Some were from Syria, some from North Africa, though preponderance they were Germanic. This may have been, partly, because they could endure the winter.😂
