Assassin at A surprises me, it's the class I've had the most success with. The damage to me feels INSANE and if you're constantly attacking a boss, your talent charges extremely fast, too, letting you avoid almost all mechanics of every boss by being aggressive. Additionally, the thunder cloud spell pairs really well - you're up close, and you get tons of mana, so you can keep vulnerability debuff on a boss with a 100% uptime just by tapping the spell while attacking.

Ronin is SS to me. Got used to the tipper range, and cutting through floors and walls is so useful. The mobility of the special is amazing to dodge a loss of boss skills too.

Yeah, ronin is where I diverted from the video the most. The ronin's added range and diagonal attacks make it incredibly good for clearing/exploring, even if you're not really scoring many crits it's still great! I wouldn't put it SS because other classes are better for bosses, but, ronin's an A at the very least

Yep, it became pretty clear at that point he was tanking the classes based on how fun he found them to play rather than how strong they were at beating the game. It would have been nice had he specified that at the beginning of the video so the viewer could decide if they were interested in watching that kind of video. It was a bit misdirection on his part.

I've been playing Gunslinger and I think what might be happening is that you're cutting off the reload animation too early with an action like a dash or something. At least that's what I noticed caused me to realize my gun wasn't loaded even though I thought it was. Edit: Upon further analysis, that isn't it, but you can't reload while firing, so if you're still in the firing animation when you reload, which can be going on for a short while after you let go of the button, you won't reload.

I got the Ladle Chef with a Serquet's Stinger to start on NG+3 and beat every boss with it in one go. Once you get used to it, Ladle Chef is incredibly powerful

I think a good way to make the pirate better would be to make either his canon’s melee, or the ball itself crit. Talent is still very weird but at least you can somewhat reliably deal damage if it’s clear what can crit. I find the dash attacks really hard to nail without accidentally taking contact damage

I finished NG7 recently and got the true ending. I agree with most of your tier list except ranger. Ranger is the bread and butter for me in terms of farming. It is the only class I got max leveled. The trick is to use Ballista, then one-shot most mobs. Also, after using it for very long, it becomes natural for me to have a perfect release for skill crit. The talent is also helpful for platforming and cheesing, especially when farming at sun tower.

I started this game yesterday and instantly regretted choosing a Ranger. Then I played for like five more minutes and was destroying everything. I took the bulk of my damage trying to figure his shot trajectory out for the first couple rooms but once it clicked I went further than I ever had before with like practically no HP left. I can’t wait to actually get good with it.

I'd say the one you got wrong is boxer. They are an A class. Exploration is the main function. Shot erasing, avoiding cheap contact damage, and great health.

For me Astro is top S not questions asked. There tons of synergies that melt everything on screen or melt bosses in no time. Also it has invulnerability and can fly super quick which makes tough fights easier and you can reach places you shouldn't be early on.

I like the astromancer for all boss fights. I get the poison relic and with the black hole it hits 10 stacks almost instantly. Massive damage and the talent lets me avoid almost everything. Combined with either prismatic spectrum or searing shot and it's gg

I rate rangers much higher. The canopy gives you spore burst on all your hits, it's a nice dps increase. You're far better off just spam attacking for larger enemies enemies then you are trying to focus on crits. If you get vamp trait you're basically invincible. Not a big fan of the barb for exploring personally. The game has too many enemies/different elevations for ground attacking to have any consistency, feels like the majority of the time you need to hit something flying at you and the spin leaves much to be desired.

There's a trick to using spin that makes it OP, you have to hit them with it on the way up past them and on the way down. Then, use second jump to pass them again and hit them again on the way down. If you get used to timing it right you can kill airborne things easily. Alternatively if you get the rune that makes you flow you can spin indefinitely.

Ranger is like an SSSS tier for exploration, the fabled weapon makes full-clearing later areas a viable gold farming strategy since it one-shots most things. Just sucks about the bossing lol....

disagree about the bossing, just picked up the game recently, ranger fuckin destroys some bosses, lamech and the skeleton pirate boss just get desemated, even the scar challenge that has you fighting 2 lamechs get's destroyed, tho i cant say much for bosses like irad

if you get the barb and slap some wings on him then double jump to fly you can swing your axe and devastate anything in your path. you become a flying saw blade of carnage.

Ronin does have + 20% strength though, it's my favourite one, the distance also helps a lot. It's actually my fav.

Remember with the boxer if you get your combo meter 20 all hits after that are crits. So finding the bell relic that double your combo is spectacular. I got to say im a boss with the ranger it is my top tier guy. I can make so awesome shots with the ranger

I have tended to prefer the Assassin's Fabled weapon for the DOT, especially against bosses, but recently had a stellar run with the Assassin's base weapon on a Contrarian, and the mobility of it can't be overstated, similar to the Knight but Imo better because of the guaranteed skill crit, plus the fast multi-attack has certain perks and synergies like you said. (I had the Lightning Storm spell with over 500 mana, so every swing would be a crit when I needed it) Any weapon which allows you to FREELY move while swinging it and move in and out of the paths of enemies while getting in hits, I find incredibly powerful just for that fact alone - but it's especially interesting with the Assassin because you can start your attack before an enemy is in front of you, then maneuver so that you are lined up for the skill crit, or even go from attacking one enemy to another, resulting in some nice combo kills, or using some of the swings to get rid of cursed projectiles....it's VERY powerful so I would definitely put in low A-tier (if not just because the perks to the class pretty much end there, apart from a situationally useful talent) Valkyrie has also been one of my best classes for this reason, in addition to the cheesy reach of their weapon, plus what might be the most busted talent in the game (it's basically a auto-pick for me if I find it in a shop, no matter what I'm running)

Could have quick mentionned thoughts on classes 2nd weapon whilst going over said class for all as a sort of quick note Detailed videos without much blabering are gold, good job there m8! For the classes ranking, I d rather agree somewhat with a lot but there are a couple things you skipped on ranger which gives him insane value; I was level 90 and had a ranger with 1hp (sick income), imo it s the class that can fast safe clear most rooms! I usually hold runs between 30 min and an hour with other classes I usually play for now making around 15k gold a run at the time average. With 1 hp ranger I had a 1h30 run which net me 57k g! (Cleared entirety of first 4 areas) Ranger can angles his shots to hit from so many different places to remain safe whilst fast clear with considerable damage output, and thanks to his talent, you dot explode at expiration (or kill) for big aoe clear, you can even cast it on the ground for early quick doom if you feel like it and also confident in bursting before ennemies react. I like to pair it with the spell for 100 mana that does multi dots in a big cercle around you, very useful to clear big rooms or hordes from behind walls. So ye, I d say for no hit runs, ranger (base) is the most efficient for those looking to grind some 1hp gold makers, and the timing of empowered shot; assuming you use game sound; can be quick and easy to get a hold of! Although, spam base shot gives more dps, sometime you ll empower shot to OS/2hit with 1 empowered+1base depending on your stats) tougher ennemies or single base shot may deal considerable enough amount of dmg on weak foes to be sufficient. Tldr: Ranger 1hp runs (ideally with big aoe multi dot spell as far as my spell knowledge goes atm) is THE King. Feel free to disagree or not and better, develop what you think! My main change would Astromancer as top of S mostly because of relics. Astro stacks so nicely with so many relics that its kinda insane. Heron's ring, Achilles Shield, Amaterasu's sun, Boxing Bell, Glowing Ember, Incandescent Telescope, Serquets Stinger, and anything that affects crits. Astro can get very broken very easily.

almost all the classes are fun, for me bard should be own tier because so unique. pirate is c or b class imo. the talent is good for fairy chests. valk and barb are A while astro and duelest are S and assassin is high A. Only new game 2 though so far. Dragon knight is D. Unless she is immune after charging or immune to some projectiles. It is the weakest in game even with 1.01. I think though tier list Could be A+ A A- B+ as Barb is not god tier vs boxer. Game has great balance for most part.

Bard should just be a bard tier. The way to play pirate is to dash while shooting the canon for massive crits , results are really good but controls are just too difficult. Although the chef is good at sustaining, once you find a good relic for that you should be good; plus it doesn’t have any upside for boss fight, s is overrated. Gunslinger has massive dmg output especially if you can find a boxing bell, just get used to the reload which should be made slightly more convenient, but that’s much easier than something like bard to learn. Should be way higher. The lancer is just terrible, don’t have any things to say. Worst on most occasions. The pizza is rather quite good, not excellent at clearing but once you can find a dot it should be fine, and it’s really good at boss fight. Outshines assassin in most situations other than the talent. Other than those, just personal preferences and fight condition.

Great tier list! I mostly agree with your choices, but there are a few classes I would move around: - Barbarian: S -> A, you are just too vulnerable in the air, and the shout can only be recharged by taking damage - Bard: A -> B, kicking the notes can be extremely powerful but often it is very hard to do so safely. - Knight: B -> C, the talent is tricky to use during battle and has a long cooldown, the class is otherwise unremarkable. - Pirate: D -> C, the AOE is excellent against mobs, and the talent shines in rooms with high celling. The trick is to shot the cannon while dashing to crit safely. - Mage: C -> D, poor aiming, disappointing mana leach, no talent. By far the worst class in the game

I think it's almost better than the Barbarian.. with the right relics.. and using crits and status effects.. you can pretty much one shot most enemies.. using the crits and status effect damage.. you can steam through high level runs with ease..

I don't think Chef is an S. It's really good starting out but as you progress in the game and start getting life on kill runes their utility really tapers off. I'm more inclined to start them off at A and then call them C at best once your arsenal is starting to get filled out. Healing against bosses I think is just strictly worse than any of the talents that stops the damage in the first place like Bastion, Comet Form, Combat Roll, etc. Since the cook ability can't be recharged in the middle of the fight anywhere but, I think, the second boss on prime mode (and scars), any of the actual avoidance talents should provide a larger benefit. I think you're underrating Dragon Lancer damage. They really dish it out if they can stand still, which their talent lets them do a fair amount of. Coupled with Wind Wall there are encounters that would otherwise be pretty difficult where they can just stand still for nearly every mechanic. An example is the Nightmare Premonitions scar where the only mechanic you have to dodge is the explosion and for everything else you just cycle talent and spell. I think you, and pretty much everyone, underrate it the way it is now. I think the one you're most wrong with, however, is the Pirate. It's much better than you give it credit for even if it's true that the talent isn't that great. One thing about it though that I didn't realise is you can jump off the ship and just have it stand there as a turret. Truthfully, I thought it was pretty bad too until I saw a really good player (Dummy Legacy here on YT) play it so I could see how they approached it. Dash is kind of a pain as a skill crit for a melee, that's true, but it's very easy to use on the cannonball and that actually hits quite hard. After trying to apply what I saw Dummy do and played it more myself I'd place it more like high B but I'm absolutely hoping to replace the talent along the way. I have some minor other opinions but nothing worth pointing out. Congrats on your full clear, I had such a blast with the game myself and I love seeing others enjoy it too.

Gunslinger and Ronin are big outliers for me, thus far. I just took gunslinger to eye ball boss and decimated after taking some hard Ls. He's also quite safe for farming/exploring, his biggest downside being a pretty worthless talent that I'll replace for basically anything else. Ronin's tipper mechanic is really fun and makes him an amazing farmer/explorer, although pretty awful against bosses.

Whaaaat, pirate has their own tier of being bad? i've killed several bosses with pirate and to me they seem to be an absolute jack of all trades, master of all lol. Has great health, can guarantee crits on both attacks (u can crit with both attacks in a single dash if u time it correctly), can regenerate mana pretty fast with both attacks giving 10 mana, so even though their mana pool is low, they still manage to dish out spells constantly, the talent is pretty useful for exploring and for some bosses, and the versatility of having melee and range attacks on demand, paired with some high knockback make them a really safe class for exploring. To me pirate's easily an S class and a candidate for the best class in the game for their overall versatility.

Kinda weird to see you knock the Chef Spoon, that weapon alone has single-handedly won me some boss fights. It's a spammable throwing weapon that goes a long distance. It completely decimates the pirate fight, and any other boss fight that happens on a surface. I feel that the crits are actually very easy to get as well. There are honestly few areas in the game where the spoons have failed me, which is much more than I can say about the pizza frisbee.

wish people were still playing this. I came back to it recently, and am having a lot of fun grinding it out. i'm on ng +24 atm. Unfortunately I don't really get to play any of the int chars yet, b/c I put all of my soul into str/vit etc. to specialize in most of the other classes, as there are really only 4 int based classes not including the bard. tbh i feel like the pirate is better than the boxer at exploring. The trick is just to always hold the attack button when using it. so that you always get the cannon shot afterwards. the melee swing knocks enemies back then you shoot them with the cannon ball. it's not great, but i like it better than the boxer lol. my favorite class from the very beginning has always been valkyrie. I think some of the other classes are starting to outshine it though after pumping so much into strength. It kind of falls off in comparison, because the dmg isn't quite as high as the others. To really make good use out of a strength based valkyrie, I got to focus on using the dash skill crit to scrape/shave a bunch of enemies at once above or below me. I got really good at the dash skill crit playing it, like scraping and canceling. The biggest surprise to me though, was how good the ranger became. At first I hated the ranger, but now I feel like it deserves to be up there right alongside the valkyrie. I mean, with enough str/dex, all it takes is to get used to the skill crit, and it's one-shotting pretty much everything, even elites, especially if I'm lucky enough to find a red sand hourglass, which is far and away the best relic on str/dex based classes. Most of the actually good relics are all int based, so stuff like red sand hourglass and glowing ember become essential to most builds since they are multiplicative. like, if you do a 10k supercrit, with the red sand hourglass, you'll be doing a 17.5k super crit. It's really strong. Now just imagine a super crit with an hourglass + ember proc on a ballista. Last time I checked my ballista was doing just over 20k dmg on super crits without any relics. With a double proc on hourglass + ember supercrit, it would do 45k dmg in one hit. pretty insane for just 2 relics at the low price of 20% resolve each. But yeh, hourglass is the best relic by far no contest lol, though I think ember is a little bit better on bosses. Having both is ideal.

Why is the pirate bad? Maybe the game got patched but at this point the pirate is one of the easiest classes to farm with. It's canonball auto attack is easily the best attack the game has to offer. Evey time u missed with the ranger before is now a clear hit + you can dmg mobs through medium thick walls with your aoe. I never really used the talent in fight and just saw it as a nice possibility to finish challenge rooms or fly through the game since it's actually lasts quite a long time. I also don't understand how the cook is S tier. I think the cook is a lot of fun to play but is one of the worst farmers in the game. You will get through the rooms no problem, but you'll get through them with all classes the cook is just terribly slow. But maybe he was that slow because I was having too much fun with it who knows.

The Astromancer as a strong combat class goes without saying, the way it plays between its attack and spellcasting makes me feel like I'm playing a sidescrolling ARPG like Diablo, melting enemies with AoEs. Its talent is also amazing for dashing through the dungeon looking for key rooms/relics/Fairy chests. You can also cheese the cooldown by walking back and forth between rooms so nothing can attack you. You can navigate the entire Phishon lake without fighting almost anything this way.

I've just picked up rogue legacy 2, I've made it to that true mimic boss and i gotta say my tierlist would been almost the complete opposite of this, excluding the characters i haven't unlocked yet like ronin and pirate, etc. I think ranger is the best class in the game, guaranteed crits are insane and you can aim, can't go wrong with aiming, i absolutely despise the barbarian, i think he's genuinely the worst and most annoying hero to play as, i also like gunslinger, i hate astromancer, he does terrible damage, or whatever his name is, the assasin is also complete garbage, his damage is abismal. I'm guessing this is a tier list for ng+, else i have no idea?

Feel like Ronin is great at exploring, while suffering a bit on bosses and rooms with many enemies, e.g. arenas. Some bosses however move quite slow and the skill crit can be very strong in those situations.

Interesting opinion regarding the Pirate. It certainly has some struggles with some bosses and rooms, but I’ve had some of my better runs (in terms of exploration and bosses) with Pirates, as well as Chefs and Duelists thus far. Still, I find myself agreeing with this tier list overall.
