I hope this is being widely distributed.. especially to Medical Centres to be shown in waiting rooms.. Also it would be a base start of knowledge about HH for medical and nursing students..

Am I too young to have this ? I’m only 20 but I’m having symptoms and my blood test came back with very high iron.

I know this is a late reply... my two children are 14 and 15 they are currently having regular venosections done to reduce their iron levels, so no not too young.

I no this was 5 years ago I just recently had my iron levels down with a blood test and liver my doctor said my iron was a overload and he said I have a condition called hireditry hemochromatosis I've never heard of it I'm 53 and menapause I was quite shocked as all my life I've suffered low iron levels it went for low to high the sooner I give blood the better because I was loosing weight and didn't no why now I do I just can't gain weight I'm already under weight when my iron levels eventually go down will I gain weight back does anyone no

In the U.S. we have to have an Rx to donate with this disease. Do you have to do the same in Australia?

Yes we do need referral from a doctor to Australian Red Cross Lifeblood to donate as therapeutic donors. Also need a referral to other venesection provider eg pathology service or public hospital if Lifeblood is not an option.
