Yeah agreed, all this talk about regulations forcing OEMS to turbocharge smaller engines or go full EV, and the Japanese are still giving us n/a V8s and n/a boxer engines. Have to give Porsche credit, yes they have many VWs and Audis with Porsche badges (and I understand they do that to keep the boat afloat) but you forgive these cars because you can still buy a n/a GT Porsche with a manual gearbox or at the very least still buy an almost new one. To buy a proper M car you have to go back more than 10 years.

The camera angles on the DeLorean and Ferrari 400/412 really make the cars look way better than they actually are. The rolling shots are absolutely bang on and could make you fall in love with them, only to have your heart broken when seeing them in person. The last of the Prelude's, more so in a SH trim are probably the best looking Honda's made of the modern era. They always looked like they should have been RWD. Like they were begging for the Vigor drivetrain and 5cylinder under the hood. I think that's what it was lacking honestly. It could have really put a dent in the S chassis Nissans.

This vid feels a little thrown together, structurally. The E-type getting a brief and stationary cameo? An automatic Ferrari getting driven, but not the 280ZX whose legacy is intertwined with Paul Newman and IMSA? The Prelude sitting still instead of being wound out to redline while a G-wagen is in motion? Were you lot planning something else and it didn't pan out?

The view of the Volvo's fins from the mirrors is iconic. I came close to buying an 1800E in the late '90s, I intended to put an Oldsmobile 215 engine in it. Had the car in my driveway for a month, had the engine in my basement. Plans changed, we moved, sold the engine, gave the car back to the shop. Back in the day it was common to put Ford 289s into those 1800s, there was even a how to manual in print.

They're rare enough over here in the Netherlands and still quite valuable. I think a good example will become rare still and sought after in a decade or two. Until then, I'll get to enjoy it. If it doesn't retain its value as well as I'd hope, I'll still have a DB9 as a consolation prize!

I think '60's and earlier is on the decline and has seen its peak as Boomers cash out and the next generation are more interested in '90's to 00's cars. These later cars were the aspirational vehicles of Gen X's youth and are more compatible with modern traffic conditions. I think the aberration to the widely predicted generational shift are pre-WW 1 "Brass Era" cars which are now being viewed through the historic lens as being the first ICE cars as we enter long tail to ICE vehicle production with driver involvement levels having peaked.

There goes my dream of owning a manual Gallardo. Precovid I probably could have swung one and been car and house broke for a little. Now they have almosr doubled and will continue to climb.

The Ferrari 400/412 door handle reminds me of the ones on the NA/Mk1 miata.

@@snakerb these door handles were also used on Alfa Romeo spiders, among others. I always had the impression that the Miata handle was intended as an updated version of this very one or at least a nod to it.

@@SmashGhost As the owner of both an R53 MCS and a DeLorean I can say that both are greatly improved by relatively minor mods. Supercharger reduction pulley and CAI / GP intercooler for the for the Mini, euro lowering springs, cat delete and stainless exhaust for the DMC 👍

The R53 and R50 MINIs are horrible cars to own because of poor BMW build quality and materials but are an absolute blast to drive when they work. The biodegradable wiring will give you fits though as the connectors love to crumble in your hands and the wires are made with corn starch, which mice find to be a tasty treat.

In the past there have been some expensive cars such as Speciale or 997.2 GT3 4.0. Here there are none, so maybe that’s an indication they expect the market generally to be flat or decline further. Cars from the 60’s will under perform the market as the demographics who want that car pass away or stop driving. A manual Gallardo, especially one of the rarer variants may be wise bet or stand a good chance of not losing much.

Surprised not to see the Honda S2000 in this lineup. Values have gone up considerably in my country, to the extent it's more expensive now than they were new.

But thats not the point of the video. The point of this video is to show cars that might be/are starting on their ascent in price. The S2K is already a highly valued collector car, these are wannabes or soon to be’s.
