어느 분이 "would" 말고 "will"라고 해도 되는지에 대한 질문에 제 답변을 다른 분들도 보실 수 있게 복사합니다 : 문법 측면에서 보면. I said I will 라고 하는 순간 직접화법이 됩니다 ( "내가 아이들한테 "내가 이번주에 너네 아쿠아리움에 데려가 줄게."). 물론 직접화법으로 말을 해도 되지만 그러면 당시에 약속하면서 했던 말을 똑같이 하거나 최소한 시점을 그대로 유지해야 합니다 ⇢ I said "I'll take you boys to the aquarium this week." ( I said I will take them ... 이렇게 말하면 내용이 헷갈릴 겁니다. --- "내가 걔네를 아쿠아리움에 데려가 줄게" 라고 했어. --- 마치, 그 아이들이 아닌 또 다른 사람들에게 한 약속인 것처럼요 ) 하지만 그보다 더 중요한 것은 아이들에게 아쿠아리움에 데려가 주겠다고 한 약속을 누구에게 얘기할 때 외국인들 중에는 직접화법으로 얘기하는 사람은 거의 없을 겁니다. 그 이유는 당시에 자신이 구체적으로 했던 말보다 약속한 내용이 더 중요하기 때문인데 직접화법이 더 자연스러운 경우는 당시에 했던 말 자체가 인상적이었을 때 (웃겼거나 무서웠거나 황당했거나 등등) 😁
