Haglöfs I The Mount Kenya

Follow a diverse crew of adventurers who share a common goal: making summit. Towering at 5,199 m (17,057 ft), the highest peak of Mount Kenya is reached by a mere 50 climbers yearly. This film revolves around photographer Lena Drapella who has little alpinism experience. When altitude sickness sets in, the challenge becomes even harder.

Beautifully made documentary of a beautiful place. Thank you for sharing. There is also great sadness, however, at the disappearance of the snow and glaciers. To see the Howell Hut on scree and bare rock when on my three visits I have only ever seen it in deep snow and we had to dig out the opening in the mid to late 80s - this is a potential tragedy unfolding.

Brilliant trip report. The views look stunning between the bad weather. I think you made a good call not heading up to the top when you were unwell. I really want to climb up Mount Kenya but know the very top is not for me, I'll try and get to the 3rd highest peek and enjoy the trek with different descent route to keep it interesting. Well done. The mountain is always there for you later.

Nice reportage, well done! I've felt in love with this mountain after reading the book FUGA SUL MONTE KENYA wich is adapted in english NO PICNIC ON MOUNT KENYA and that i suggest to everyone. I only have a question, why guys summited Nelion and didn't attempted Batian wich is higher? If i'm not wrong from the same route is possible descent Nelion and climb Batian (i've figured that from the book, off course i've never been there so i can be wrong XD).
