Hagstrom proudly presents:
The Hagstrom Nekromant 4 & 5 String Basses
Dive into the shadows
A thrilling plunge into the shadows for enthusiasts seeking an otherworldly musical experience. Crafted with meticulous precision, these instruments defy conventional bass boundaries, inviting players to explore the darker realms of musical expression. Tailored for those venturing into the thunderous landscapes of metal, the Nekromant basses emerge not merely as instruments but as meticulously forged weapons designed for the audacious and bold. Feel the resonance of a musical arsenal as your hands grace the strings, each detail reflecting dedication to craft and a commitment to delivering an instrument that embodies the power and intensity of a heavier genre. The Nekromant series transcends being a bass-it becomes a gateway to an alternate musical realm where darkness reigns and bold sonic explorations thrive.
Thunderous Harmonies, Courageous Visuals
At the core of this sonic uprising lies a dynamic 3-band onboard preamp boasting cut/boost capabilities, pickup blend, master volume, and discrete placement of an active/passive switch and a preamp gain. This preamp acts as a catalyst for an unparalleled sonic onslaught, unleashing explosive tones that resonate with stirring intensity in your musical landscape.
Custom Hagstrom “Gehenna” Pickups: Unleash the Beast
Delve into the abyss with Hagstrom’s exclusive introduction of Hagstrom “Gehenna” passive soap-bar humbucking pickups. Meticulously engineered for phenomenal tones in both active and passive modes, these pickups respond with unparalleled warmth, clarity, balance, and power, whether summoning thunderous riffs or conjuring haunting melodies.
Mahogany Dominance & Dark Alchemy
Crafted entirely from mahogany, including a mahogany set neck, the Nekromant basses provide a sonic banquet
through their highly resonant timbers and solid construction. With a touch of sinister elegance, the solid brass
CNC machined bridge becomes a key player in the symphony of darkness.
Featuring a long 34” scale length, the Nekromant ensures a rich, natural sustain and resonance that lingers like
a haunting melody. Forged in the depths of dark alchemy, the bridge enhances energy, clarity, response, sustain, and enduring power throughout every cell of the instrument, projecting the tone at all frequencies.
Necromancer Vibes
Derived from “Necromancer” in Swedish, the name Nekromant encapsulates its essence. Embrace the dark arts, channel the spirits, and conjure sonic sorcery with every note. Unleash your musical incantations, making a resounding statement with a bass that is both mystical and powerful, offering a beautiful fusion of form and function.

All good! Its always great to have open convo's to be able to communicate what the brand is thinking and the concepts of new instruments. We often overthink a lot of details when we are creating new models, but there is a lot of thought that goes into everything that we release to the market.

Usually medium and long scale basses with the top strap button positioned ahead of the 12th fret will trend towards being dive-happy. The Gibson Thunderbird, RD and Yamaha SBV-500 are good examples, although each does so at different rates based off the mass at the headstock. If the strap button positioning is behind the 12th fret the bass is more likely to have the balance shifted back toward the body and therefore either float the neck or be perfectly balanced. a few well balanced examples would include the Fender Jazz and precision, Yamaha BB and Attitude series and Dingwall NG-3. You can sometimes get around the neck dive issues if it's minor on an instrument though either by weighting the strap at one side, or if you *really* wanna show how metal you are you could have a pocket cut and a weight added to the body.

We use the same hardware suppliers as many of the US made brands (Korean). Constant use of jacks on the majority of instruments can and do come loose over time but there are tricks to keep these sitting firm. A drop of "tread lock" works wonders.

@@archibaldgregory1348 you're welcome man! As far as I know, active pickups (like EMGs) need the external source of power to work so it's not possible to turn them into passive with a switch. They would just stop producing signal.

I actually mailed Hagström some time ago and asked about something like this. I got like a ;) for answer. Now it´s here! Is it possible that it will cost about 17000SEK? Lots of Swedish bands likes to play "hags", endorse some of them, it is a great way to get more eyes on the brand. I have the Fantomen guitar and I love it. It has some small typical china issues, but its nothing critical. For 9000SEK I have tried much worse guitars!

I feel it’s going to be another pricey instrument but as ever, cheap parts and labour from China. Hence the cheap MM style pickups like what we’ve seen from Ashdown basses. What exactly is” Internally Reinforced Headstock”? Surely a neck volute is more sustainable and efficient? If they made a Passive PJ model, 4&5 string at a discounted price, i’d consider overlooking the negative points to consider a better bass than Gibson would make.
@hagstromguitarssweden
@hagstromguitarssweden 14 күн бұрын
Number one... Our parts are all made in South Korea (hardware), where a lot of the same suppliers that we use are also used in many US made instruments. In fact, the same suppliers that make certain well known part "brands" also come from those same suppliers. A volute helps a little, but reinforcing that headstock neck joint, adds a heck of a lot more strength and stability to that vulnerable joint.

Pros : Awesome shape, classy, active and passive options, great looks Cons : only 20 frets, horrible upper fret access, bridge pickup too far from the bridge
@hagstromguitarssweden
@hagstromguitarssweden 15 күн бұрын
We consider the harmonic points when we choose the pickup placements, and also what we are trying to capture tonewise with a specific instrument. That postion towards the middle is REALLY beefy and sounds excellent all on its own. We often test multiple variations of pickups and their different positions, and lean heavily on the advice of other players during the prototyping phases.
@CoolGuyAtlas
@CoolGuyAtlas 15 күн бұрын
The placement is interesting. Looks like it's in the P bass pickup area and the EB-O neck pickup area. Honestly, it's probably pretty close to an HH Stingray. The Stingray's pickup position is much farther from the bridge than people think. It overlaps with the lower P bass pickup. Way too many bass manufacturers put an MM pickup in the 70's jazz bass position, which is way less usable imo.
