So glad that you guys were not making fun of tsukki's brother. So many reactors make fun of him not giving it a thought that it's quite a normal reaction for a teenager in akiteru's position( that's tsukki's bro, in case you don't remember his name) in real life. And Akiteru was on the team. He wouldn't have been given the Karasuno's jacket if he hadn't been on the team. Extra players sit in cheering section. Aoba Jousai's cheering section also has quite a few players sitting. Remember when karasuno went to Aoba Jousai to play practice match in S1 there were a lot of players but we only see 12 of them in the team jersey.

Tsukishimas brother is on the team, just not a "regular." A regular in Japanese sports terms is someone who has earned a uniform/position on the bench. A big or popular team/school usually has a lot of athletes on the team but are only allowed a certain amount of players on the bench or participating in the game. So the guys that don't get a uniform will go to every game to cheer in the stands like we saw Tsukishimas brother was doing. As athletes prove themselves its up to the coach on whether or not to assign a number to them, so its a constant battle especially if one is part of a good sports program. Also, I'm sure the team at the time was stacked since it was the strongest Karasuno has ever been, especially since they even went to Nationals. Which is a big deal.

In Japan, regular actually refers to someone who's been in a position long enough on court, so bench members can't be called regulars. In Karasuno, it would be Asahi, Daichi, Tanaka, and Noya, as they retained their original positions and are still on court.

Some extra info about rosters for anyone interested: In Japan, high school teams are normally allowed up to 14 players in their roster for tournaments and practice matches. That's the starting members plus bench members. For big powerhouse schools like Aoba Johsai where they have a lot of club members/players, the rest of the members not included in the roster of 14 will usually act as managers or cheering squad. That's why a big school like Nekoma can run well without a manager, and Tsukki's bro was part of the cheering section.

That's very common in Japan. In America or other countries, what are the players who can't even be on the bench doing during the match? Don't they watch their teammates playing?

@@7037-h1h in the US you either make the team or you don't. So if you get cut you don't practice or anything with the team. In Japan it's usually a year long club that you devote all 3 years to. They don't do that in the US, only seasonal sports. The US educational system and discipline isn't good enough to have responsible students to have a Japanese style club system. That's why US high school doesn't do any National Level tournaments.

Tsukki is my first crush from the moment he appeared in the beginning of the shows, when many people tend to hate him. Even when later I come to like some other characters like Ushiwaka, Oikawa, Kenma and Kitashin, I still put Tsukki in my number one list of Haikyuu Crush. He's great as player and his characteristic is very unique, that's ones of many reason I love him.

I am neither denying nor confirming if/when Tsukki will have a "moment", but if he does you will feel it in your soul...
