That is such a nice story. A lot of people think they need to be Catholic to revere Our Lady. We as Catholics, are proud of Mary, the mother of Jesus because she comforts those like a human mother. How is it that people who are completely ignorant of our faith DARE to TELL US and/or others WHAT to believe? Catholics do NOT worship Mary - we honour her because she humbly answered God's call by accepting His will to bring His Son into the world. As a Reformed Christian we do have respect for Mary but not in any way that venerates her over other people God used/uses to accomplish His purposes. We put the focus where the Bible puts the focus, Jesus Christ and Him crucified. We, with the writers of the New Testament see Christ as our only intercessor, praying to the Father for us on our behalf-for Christ's merit is the only way to the Father.

+Frederick 314 I originally came from a protestant Christian denominational (Methodist Church). We did not pray to Mary but to God only. However, we revered her and greatly honored her as the mother of Christ which she was, the blessed virgin. Some other sects have a problem sometimes because they believe that God is the only one they should be praying to. Mary was a human being like us, not a deity. I was confirmed Catholic this year. Having come from both sides I see many similarities as well as differences.

I am an immigrant who was living oversees. When I was nine years old, I passed mid-term exam and I was excited. So I headed with a friend of mine to pray in front of the statue of Saint Mary at the entrance of my catholic school which belong to French missionary. While we were praying, the statue which weigh at least two hundred pounds started leaning forward. We were so terrified, we took off like ghosts. When we were away close to 50 yards, we exchanged what happened with great fear. Few minutes later, we went back to look at the statue and within seconds, same miracle took place. We were more terrified than first time and took off and never told anybody about it.

JOSEPH C. I too am from Lebanon and Our Lady has done many miracles. The Vatican has accepted some of those miracles and is still investigating others. But if you believe truly in your heart of hearts that Mary, has performed these miracles then it is true. No one can take that away from you. Harissa has had many stories of miracles. I was violently sick as a child and would sleep walk which scared my family. It was only when I put a picture of Mary under my pillow that I was comforted. She is there for everyone; Christians, Muslims, everyone.

@@v.b6028 When you mentioned Harissa I remembered my late mother. She told all her kids about having major back problems that required surgery as she could not stand straight. The odds of success of the surgery was low and was worried about living a lifelong life with pain. My parents were strong believers and they like to visit Harissa yearly. My mom put a lot of effort to get to the statue and prayed. On the way down, she realized she was not stooping anymore and walking straight. She lived afterwards for many decades without any back problem or surgery . One thing always amazed however knew her her daily devotion to pray the rosary. She was promised in her dream that none of her children will get hurt due to war and none of us was touched though we were living on line of demarcation. VB: I wish you great health. Keep the faith.
