I am not sure if you are old enough to overstand what was going on during His Majesty Haile Selassie I time. I wasn't old enough to overstand, either. But I have seen MANY GOOD works of His Majesty. He educated many Ethiopians, he modernized Ethiopia, and established the Ethiopian Airlines.. which is one of the BEST airlines in the world. I heard that during His Majesty's reign, there were many difficult times... and difficult times called for difficult measures, and decisions! Look at what PM Abiy Ahmed Ali is up against NOW?...he is trying to UNITE Ethiopia, and some other groups within the country wants to continue with the divisions...and creating difficulties for the government to function. Sooner or later, PM Abiy will have to resort to difficult decisions to deal with this matter.

No problem, brother. There seems to be a great deal of Ethiopian regime propaganda that has mislead lots of Afro-Caribbeans, African-Americans & Africans. Though Ethiopia fought the Italian invaders at the famous battle of Adwa & again during WW2, it did so by enlisting its vast army of slave soldiers. Ethiopia fought the Italians & preserved its independence NOT to protect the freedom of most of its people [they had no freedom as most were slave-farmers/serfs (gebbar) & domestic slaves (bariya)]. Rather, it fought the Italians to PROTECT OR DEFEND the ruling elite's right to continue owning slaves & its economy based on a brutal feudal slave systems from would-be colonisers of Ethiopia [Italians]. In the end, Italians managed to remove the regime of Emperor Haile Selasie & colonised Ethiopia for 5 years (1936-41). It was white Italians who freed millions of slaves in Ethiopia. But, Haile Selassie's regime was returned to power with the help of the British & white South African army who liberated Addis Ababa & Ethiopia in May, 1941. [Ethiopian patriots did their best to resist the Italians but their role in liberating Ethiopia was merely of symbolic value]. After liberation, many of the slaves freed by the Italians were duly returned to their Ethiopian owners. Because of its refusal to free its people from farming slavery [serfdom] & domestic slavery, Ethiopia was banned from the League of Nations [forerunner of the United Nations] in 1935. Here is an official document (about 2 pages-long) presented at the General Assembly of the League of Nations outlining Ethiopia's extensive & brutal slave systems plus the brutal treatment of the more African-looking tribes in southern & western parts of Ethiopia. The document would give you a synthesis of the REAL Ethiopia; not the one shrouded in romantic Semitic myths, pomp & ceremony of its emperors & regime propaganda passed as history of Ethiopia.
