Not that the Coen brothers needs any more praise for how they work, but how they discovered her and put her as the lead role in True Grit, has to be one of the most incredibly genius things they ever did. I was completely blown away. I remember i said to my friend after leaving the cinema, that this girl would get one of the best careers in Hollywood. Yesterday i checked her IMDb page, she is now actually rank 1 on the star meter.

She should have been nominated for _Best Actress in a Leading Role_ instead of deceptively running for the the _Best Supporting Actress_ category which is already an honor and sometimes more interesting snd challenging but sometimes seen as easier/less competitive. (Like _The Martian_ submitting itself for the _Best Motion Picture - Comedy/Musical_ category for the Golden Globes instead of the _Best Motion Picture - Drama._ ) I definitely liked her more than Melissa Leo who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress that year, but if Hailee was going for the Best Actress in A Leading Role category that year she had no chance. Not just because the Academy is made up of a bunch of narrow minded old farts who hate child actors. But because she would be going against Natalie Portman in _Black Swan._ )

@@MildMisanthropeMaybeMassive Hailee Steinfeld did, of course, play the lead in “True Grit.” I think the reason she was put in the “Supporting Actress” category was that she was very young, and it was her first film, or at least her first starring role. The Academy has done the same thing with some other young actresses. By the way, I saw “Black Swan” the same year, and “True Grit” was a much better film, and Steinfeld put in a better performance than Natalie Portman did.

Voice acting to me is on another level of performance.. to mail a character without even knowing what that character is doing for the most part and then it comes together so amazing and you don’t even know what actor played them… arcane for example she nailed that role as well as the other voice actors.. the emotion they put and range in those characters was just amazing!!

A lot of studios have the scene or storyboards in front of them when their reading the line. At the very least they're given a script that detail what's happening. They are most definitely not at all anywhere close to being in the dark.

i remember watching her in romeo and juliet and now shes in the MCU as Kate Bishop! shes such a talented actress and she really seems so down to earth like its not an act like some celebrities put on. a few years ago she came to my high school to do a vigil for a girl who had passed away (the girl was a fan of hailee) Hailee didnt have to come but she did i believe she was in europe not in america at the time. I worked part time in a cafe. One night, I was stressed and out of it. I was about to take a break because I'm really drained. Then at that exact moment my shift partner got an emergency and have to go home. I was frustrated. A costumer arrived I didn't bother even looking at her just asked her order and turn around prepare it. I was so exhaustingly rude to her, sighing loudly, that I don't even care if I got fired. When I finally faced the costumer, It was Hailee. I was literally the main antagonist of her night that moment but she was still smiling. I feel like my soul went out of my body. If it's any other person I'd have my face spilled with coffe or something. And when I gave her her order she gave me the other one saying that it's for me. And everything will be okay. It late and no not so many costumer that time. I know she understand because she is an actress and probably dealth with a lot of nights like I had. But It was genuine kindness. She is for real. She deserves the break and the fame.
