I love the message of this song. It’s not about toxic feminism. It’s celebrating all types of girls and women. She is supporting all body shapes but you can work out and change your body. The different outfits show you can be more feminine or more masculine but you still are a girl we all have the same struggles. And we are all beautiful in our own way. The words on the shirts at the end show the beauty in the inside as well. ❤

The song is about feminism…but feminism isn’t just about women. You gotta do more research on the history of the term and its definition before you go commenting around like this. When you search up “isms” in general check it’s historical definition or political definition, not just a general dictionary definition bc that will not give you a fully defined explanation of what you are researching. I’d say to start by researching suffrage and build from there and see how the term developed. Also don’t only study it from one country’s perspective, but from multiple. Look at Emmeline Pankhurst and Nellie McClung or Alice Paul. Those are the basics to start with that you should then build from.

When I was younger I was a "Not like other girls" girl. I've gotten older and realized that there's nothing wrong with liking more 'girly' things. "Not like other girls" phases happen because society teaches us that masculine things are better and should be valued above more feminine ones when there's nothing wrong with liking either one. This isn't intended to be against more masculine women, if you're not hurting anyone like what you like.

I love the meaning of this song. He told her ,,she isn’t like most girls“ what means he’s bringing down other women. Her in return WANTS to be like most girls because we are all so beautiful!
@CODINE804 ай бұрын
Well this is one approach based on one prism of mind (a specific piece of mind) but there is another... the guy obviously and realistically could not have met EVERY girl in the world to have this opinion so when he says "most girls" he is refering to the most out of the number of girls he actually have met in his life and his experience with them wasnt nice...because yes as this can be true for men it can equally be true for women as well.. a guy might have had 3 relationships or more were each was bad for different reasons but always coming mainly from the women's part... so when he says this phrase he actually ''compliments'' her that out of the number of women he have met and most of them werent nice, she is exceptional, different in a good way and he sets her above his past experiences.. in that regard, her reaction can be seen as stupid, illogical, brainless feminist outburst and make the guy in the end feel like he skipped a bullet and the whole video and song words, totally irrelevant to the meaning of the intro scene!!!

@AT-lp8qg7 жыл бұрын
Pinhead Larry I agree. These days people take "love yourself" too much and use it to shame others for wanting to change. I am around 40lbs over weight and my bmi is climbing into the "obese" categories but I still look pretty good bc I carry my weight well. But I start eating better with a lot of veggies and start exercising and all I hear everyday at work is how "perfect" I am and I don't need to diet or change myself. They even make fun of how I brought my green veggies for lunch instead of eating out, or say "xx can't have a soda. She's on a "diet" and snicker about me.

Giving confidence and motivation to make positive changes isn't tearing them down, believe it or not, just saying 'you're great no matter what' doesn't work for everyone! I'm sorry to say this but some people need to hear more, and this is a sad fact but while everyone has positive aspects, nobody is perfect, and everybody has something bad about themselves, like me, I have horrible skin that is covered in eczema and looks horrible, and I would love to treat it and be rid of it, but not because I worry people will judge me for it, but because it itches and is uncomfortable, so I out effort with products and medicine to clear my skin. I so that for me not for anyone, so why is any different when a girl wants it? Having high self esteem and wanting to make positive changes are not mutually exclusive. Like I said, some people, man or woman, need more than a generic preschool cartoon message saying 'you're special!' Some people legitimately think there's something they can do to to better themselves, and if they actually try, good for them!
@hazeleye997 жыл бұрын
Grizz, Pan-Pan, and Ice Bear Don't listen to that person! You're obviously not tearing anyone down! What you said is true. I think some people have the meaning wrong, the meaning is that *all* girls are different, ("No two are the same"). It's saying despite this she wants to be like them because they're all great despite their differences ("I wanna be like most girls.") So, the message of this song is: Every girl is different in their own way, but no matter who they are, they are all amazing. (Also, to never tell a girl she's not like most girls or else she'll make an entire song on you) (This comment was originally 2 years ago, I edited it to be more comprehensive!)

What some don't understand is that it is sometjimes used as a compliment. Lets clarify this quickly, like guys, not every girl is what you want to be around. Some are absalute chavs and in my expirence, some of the worst people they know. If that is the girls they know, it is a compliment, something they like about that girl. Taking this broad brush approach to issues makes life difficult in many other ways because nobody takes things case by case anymore to find out the real factors behind the issue going on.
@urgrandma85645 жыл бұрын
@@Osindileyo i agree that if he's comparing her to the girls he's dated or something along those lines because they may have been toxic, cheaters, abusive, etc. but when it comes to comparing her to most girls in general it's bad. we dont know which he's talking about really though, it's just him saying "ur not like most girls" and her then saying "ight imma head out"

I love the take this music video has. I love how it's not "lololol most girls totally love like dresses ad high heels and makeup but nope, not me, im just sOOoOoOOoO goofy and i read books and im a dork lmao!!!" Instead, it's saying that every girl is unique and powerful in their own way. It show's that the girls who prefer to stay inside and avoid parties and clubs are still pretty & unique. It show's that girls who do go out and express themselves are Fierce & Confident, that they know what they want & exactly how to get it. it doesn't degrade artists, bookworms, party girls, or any other person for who they are. Instead, it shows that every single girl has their own unique lifestyle and personality, and that it's OKAY to be who you are. Introverted, Extroverted, Gay, Bi Straight, Trans, Queer, Confident, Quiet, Loud, etc. Be who you are & be proud. Don't degrade or disrespect girls who aren't like you.

Hedvika Stachovcová - Agreed, except when she get up and leaves him because he says “you’re not like most girls”, that’s called being over sensitive. If it had been a video will a girl saying “you’re not like other guys” and she got and left him the responses would be very different. BTW, most of what she is referring to in the song is actually women judging each other, not men judging us.
@hedvikastachovcova98646 жыл бұрын
@@kms7012 if she took "youre not like most girls" as a compliment it would mean lowering her fellow sisters and friends. i know its hard to look this deep into a thing but she wants to be complimented for something she is not complimented by insulting other women. she just doesnt want to be with a man who doesnt value other women.

@@hedvikastachovcova9864 That is the dumbest thing i have seen today! Nothing wrong with the compliment, it doesn't mean he doesn't value other women (in the sense you mean), Why would she want to be like most women? Especially when most are a damn disgrace nowadays. It's not hard to look deep into anything, it's just stupid. Maybe in her mind it means something but in reality it is just ridiculous lol. Seems like it's coming from your perception and not facts. "i think every girl once wanted to be out of the crowd and not like most girls but most girls are pretty awesome. and its just every womans mistake when she thinks she has to put down other women in order to feel powerful.". WHAT??!! LOL. Once? you know there are plenty females who don't want to be part of the crowd and THOSE are not most girls.... Also, who the hell said every woman has/does put other women down to feel powerful? Seriously, stop speaking for others. This song is nonsense and you are looking way too deep into it. Everyone can interpret something how they'd like but it doesn't make it factual. Yes, some women AND men do put others down to feel powerful but to say every is just being extreme. If a guy tells a girl shes not like other girls and she comes back with this BS, she is a damn fool lmao. I believe everyone is different and I’m never jealous of a girl but there’s always that one girl that does and is all competitive and etc. I myself don’t even understand this song but I just like the beat, I consider myself “different and weird” cause most people and friends really do say so I am, and i think I’ve realized that but I know I’m not the only one. The “I’m not like other girls” means your unique or rare or weird and “weird” means nobody really finds that kind of “kindness” “beauty” or “personality” and the list goes on. When this song came out I was 14 and had really toxic mindset. I always thought she sang I don't wanna be like most girls because that's what made sense to me (I'm not native English speaker so I didn't understand half of the lyrics lol). I was trying so hard to not like the most girls, rejecting everything femine while girls in my age starting makeup and wearing skirts. But the truth was I really wanted to do makeup and wear skirts but I just couldn't do it because I always assumed makeup is for someone who is insecure and skirt is for girl who wants boys attention. But boy I was wrong. I was the one who wanted boys attention because I wanted them to think I was different than most girls so they could pick me. I was the insecure one because I thought I wouldn't look good as them with makeup so I constantly put them down to make myself feel better. And after two years of that toxic mindset I finally available to escape that. I now wear makeup whenever I want, however I want and wear clothes that I feel most comfortable wearing at the time and totally support all our lovely girls.

These comments are complaining about how this is very sexist to men, but honestly, it's not. "care about women" does not translate to "don't care about men." For example: the lyric Most girls, work hard, go far, we are unstoppable doesn't mean that men don't work hard, etc. etc. It's just that girls **usually** have more self esteem issues, and have had society tell us who we should be, and what we can and can't do. (And that's not saying that men haven't had self esteem issues or society give them rules btw :-)
@borekvodrazka50664 жыл бұрын
Idk about the self-esteem part and the social pressure thing, like I am sure that girls have their own society made pressure but as someone who is interested in psychology and the field I can say almost for sure that man are generally the ones with low self-esteem (not that its a competition) but just wanted to put it here, take suicide and angry issues for example, most suicides are committed by men and the reason for that is usually social pressure connected with low self-esteem and frustration, angry issues are almost in every case connected with low esteem and its not frequent occurrence in woman mind. This is my not professional opinion so feel free to prove me wrong.

Was just watching a video about "The worst things to say to a woman" and "You're not like other girls" reminded me of this song. Had to come watch it again. This is one of those songs that not only sounds great, but you show it to your pre-teen daughter to teach her about life.

"nothin but sweatpants looking like a princess" and "you look greatest when you feel like a damn queen" are the two greatest lines in this song. I wear sweatpants and a fancy shirt at the same time, I feel good, I don't care about looking good as long as I feel like a damn queen that's all that matters. Love you Hailee 💕

"But it's ok if you wanna change the body you came in" hit me so hard. I feel like society has done such a good job at teaching us all that you should love the body you came in, and you don't need to change it. But it's hard hearing it all the time when you can't find a way to love your body the way it came. So when she said that, it made me feel good about wanting to change the way I look. :)
