Today was my official first day at UCLA (as a transfer student). I literally cannot express how much it means to me that you posted this video. I find myself in an eerily similar situation (virtually this semester ofc). It is so comforting to hear/know that what I'm experiencing & feeling is just part of the transfer experience lmao. Thank you seriously, I hope this message finds you well!!

Elise Davis hey Elise, congrats on surviving your first day at UCLA! I’m guessing that this moment wasn’t exactly how you envisioned it but you should be proud of yourself regardless. Trust me, you are not the only one feeling this way. It’s normal to feel behind, but just remember that you made it to the #1 public university in the nation. I hope you get the full UCLA experience soon. Glad to hear you found the video helpful. Good luck with your first quarter!

I think your channel is very underrated tbh... as someone who's really interested in ucla or just the UCs generally, I found that your channel is very helpful. You elaborate your ideas in such a smooth, fluent and clear way.

You are so articulate!! Thank you for sharing your story about when you first got to UCLA and your ASL class. I just committed as a one-year transfer and I am super nervous because my entire cc experience has been online so it was a total breeze. I'll definitely keep all your advice in mind. Thank you for making all these videos! So helpful!!

Hello Hailey, I am glad I found your blog. If you don't mind me asking, how much money did you spend on a monthly basis? My son will be attending UCLA this Fall as a transfer student and I will be sending him money. I really don't have any idea how much I would need to send him to survive, and your advice would help. Thank you

Hi, thank you for your video! My daughter is a transfer student from west valley college this coming fall 2024, I want to know how is student housing off campus is like? in term of distinct, cost and is it safe? how far is the apartment to walk to campus or you have to drive to campus?? is it traffic?? I'm worry, my daughter did not get housing on campus, she got off campus.

Do you feel like a number there? Like is it overwhelming how big the school is and the population/class sizes?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege3 жыл бұрын
Hi! No, I felt very comfortable at UCLA.
@leilasiegel31053 жыл бұрын
I noticed you rarely use words like "um" or "like" I'm just curious if that's something you're naturally good at or had to practice? I say those phrases a lot and I am trying to get better but it's HARD!
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege3 жыл бұрын
I've been doing public speaking for over 10 years so it's all pretty natural to me but keep in mind the way I talk in these videos is very different from the way I talk in real life lol. If you try to slow down your speech you will probably find yourself using fewer filler words.

I wish LA public transportation was effective so it wouldn't be necessary to Uber everywhere!

yes!! If only LA has good public transportation...literally the only thing I'm like "huh" about LA lol

Hey! I just transferred to UCLA, and I was wondering if you have any tips for remote learning. This is super random, but this is my first semester at UCLA, and all my classes are online, so I'm kinda worried about managing everything. Also, I've never had so much reading in all my classes, so if you have any tips on that, please let me know! Thank you! I love your videos, by the way!!!!
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege4 жыл бұрын
Alison tcheguini hi Alison! I recommend talking to your professors about how to be successful in their class. I found the best way was going to office hours. It’s not very common in community college, but trust me EVERYONE is doing it at UCLA. Especially the students who seem like the smartest in the class. Visit not only your professors’ office hours, but also your TAs’. They are so helpful and understanding. The initiative alone is enough to make them view you more favorably if you go regularly. And they’re the ones doing most of the grading. My roommate was an English major and she would listen to audiobooks (at double speed if necessary) to get through all her reading. It was great bc she could do it while walking home from class, exercising or making dinner. Hope that helps! Good luck to you!

Hello hailey, I have a question I am going to be going to my first year at a CSU would I still be able to transfer to UCLA or would I need to go to community college and then transfer?
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jasmine, while it is not impossible to transfer from a CSU to a UC, I would like to point out that priority consideration is given to students who have not yet had the chance to attend a four year university (i.e. a community college). Hope that answers your question.

Hey Hailey Dollar! Iam new here and really want to join this University after high school. Iam from Africa, and l don't know anything about being *UCLA* as an athletic student. The costs? Food, bedrooms and other social activities like sports.

Hello! This information is all available on UCLA's website. Please visit the website as I do not know this information off the top of my head and I am also not a student athlete. However, I do have many videos on my channel of my personal experience at UCLA, so if you are interested in that you can check those out. Hope that helps!

Hi there, I have a couple of questions about housing, Are there students moving out of places that a transfer student might be able to move into right after a student graduates?

Is there any way you can make a video on or just explain applying to grad schools when you came in as a transfer? I'm starting at UCLA this fall and am wondering about if you recommend applying your senior year, or instead waiting till the year after so that your undergrad transcripts from UCLA are a bit more bolstered. Thanks!
@HaileyDollarGoesToCollege5 жыл бұрын
Hi Benjamin, sorry but I really don't know anything about grad school....I'm still trying to figure it out myself. I'm only in undergrad!

You have to live within your means. Budget means budget. If you don't have money for Uber rides, you MUST stay home. If you don't have money for plane rides home, you MUST stay home. Sounds like you slammed your credit card and asked Mommy and Daddy to pay for your credit card bill. Suck it up buttercup!

Mark, I'm with you on the first half of this comment. The second half, however, is just downright wrong, and I don't appreciate your tone. Let's try to keep it respectful.
