I got told by a Tumblr post "If you're a white person reading this, don't be afraid to mingle with other cultures. Go and listen to Hailu Mergia." I am not disappointed.

I love how you can ALMOST hear lyrics, or at least the intention behind them. as if an intangible ghost is singing, desperately trying to be heard. beautiful
@tesfayedesalegn5340 Жыл бұрын
There are actually original songs to most and Hailu's jazzed up music just takes it to a new level. This one,"Anchin kfu ainkash" is sang by Tilahun Gessese.

My friend who was born in the south that introduced me to this masterpiece told me "none of it has words because in Nigeria the government would only let you have music that had lyrics talking about how good the government was", so they had to communicate their feelings through instruments. I think it's absolutely fascinating and hopefully what she claimed does hold water and had added an extra layer to this song's brilliance in your eyes

Remember hearing this song in my front yard while my brother worked on his truck, I just had my first baby and he drove out to meet him. While I was inside rocking the little guy to sleep I heard this tune outside and just had to go out into the summery green yard and ask him what it was! Now my kid is almost three and we've played this album his whole life and it just never gets old ❤

This song is beautiful. Picture this. You have been through one hell of a time. The stormy present brought you so much grief and strife. The unknown clouded your thoughts and left you fighting for your life. At the worst of it, you thought it would be a neverending cycle of torment, but then all of a sudden. The rain stopps, the sky clears, and there is peace. The sun slowly rises, as if it's a moment of serendipity. The storm has passed and you are left with this song, staring at the beautiful sunrise to remind you that everything is going to be ok. That is what this song makes me thing of. Peace
