They need to integrate existing community into the new development, in most Western countries even in Dubai where they have kept farmer markets, traditional villages, costal communities preserved, which actually will be beneficial for the Tourism industry, some tourists will be interested to seeing these communities, all they need to do is make those shacks a little bit more presettable, clean the water & let the people live the way they are living.
@godzillamothra59833 жыл бұрын
they did that, but some demolition is unavoidable. The village is too big, and many already left the village for better jobs onshore. By demolishing and reorganizing the village, it will be more suitable for tourism industry. There is no progress without sacrifice. I'm sure they will be compensated for their property. Usually they will get new house. Job is a different matter. While I'm sure there will be plenty new tourism jobs, I'm not sure how many of them are suitable for the jobs. Some retraining maybe needed.

@martiforse47643 жыл бұрын
@@kafka8060 what you're writing does somewhat make sense but it collides with a lot of information about China that I actually have. the Chinese people did revolt (a big example is the Tienamen massacre in 1989) and still have massive protests today. But they get quite violently and relentlessly cracked down. I'm not even using HK as an ex. In mainland Ch there are lots of protests. Chinese actually do protest abroad as well. not everyone, sure. many are busy with their struggle or with their contempt. Certainly a lot of Ch nationals are proud of the achievements of their country and of the opportunity they have to make money. I'd be curious to ask these people what they think of their local gov in mainland Ch. I wonder if they check it in a different case than that of the central gov. And as we are at it, China is Communist because it possesses everything and everyone. how many people were kicked out of their homes? nobody can own land. only occupy it for half a century max. And that depends if the gov wants the land. How many people were imprisoned and got their organs harvested? It has been proven that prisoners of disliked religions and ethnicities are doing forced labor, are eventually replaced in their homes or harvested of their organs. and Taiwan.. Taiwan is a country that does absolutely not correspond to the original Chinese rep. We're seeing a totally different country, political and moral direction. Comparing the first leader of Taiwan with the current gov is like comparing Berlusconi to Giulio Cesare or Mao with Xi.. ah, no. he's also doing similar things. At the anniversary of the party, he even dressed the same to mark these similarities. I'm sure there's a lot of good to speak of. And I truly believe that medias around the world are often one sided. But even that has a limit as journalism in the west is not as controlled as it is in other countries. like China. I mean.. Fox news or CNN are buffoons. But did you ever read the Global Times?

Singapore was once a poor tiny island with around the same rustic charm as they have. But under the vision of one man, concrete towers risen. Then the shopping malls. Other modern furnishings. And along with it came an environment so spick and span that you'd swear everywhere looks like a manicured park. BUT there in lies a problem. Sure all these things look nice... but you can't sell the soul of a place. Its origins. Its roots. No matter how much wealth you surround it it just wouldn't feel the same. Not saying I'm against change... but I'm not against preservation. What I'm proposing is a fine balance to ensure that the hardworking spirit of these peasant folk can be appreciated by the new wave of middle class people seeking a new form of life in the presence of these economic opportunities. THEN and only THEN can this island... traditionally the poorest part of China... can prosper without selling its character. A place where those fisherman can not only keep on fishing... but possibly own a small shack where they sell their produce at a markup to beachside customers

@@CantHandleThisCanYa Only an ignorant idiot would believe that. Hindus believe in "gods". Most East Asians are atheists. The small percentage that adhere to any religious dogma adhere to buddhism, and in buddhism there is no preaching of god or gods, it's more of a way of life and finding enlightenment than wasting your life worshipping imaginary wizards.

RIP Hong Kong, it's a shame we had to witness your demise. May you become free and independent again in the future.
