Finally it is out! A super fun and super nerdy plugin that you probably never knew you needed. It was supposed to be an easy one after the ages it took to get Moon Echo done, so we "only" worked half a year on it. Note: If you have all the AudiotThing Hainbach plugins, it even cheaper - check the user area. If you are a Patron, use the discount code you can find in "collections" to get another discount. www.audiothing.net/effects/arguments/

I was shocked. I buy every plugin from you as soon as they come out... especially everything Hainbach. So I upgraded my effects bundle as usual, but the plugin was not there. I logged out, I logged in... nothing. It was pure madness for me for about an hour. Finally 15 minutes ago my account got updated somehow and now it's installed and ready to go. It will be a glorious night. Thanks Audiothing... for everything... you are the best!

I have to say, really well done. This is an absolute triumph. I have my copy installed and have used it this evening seeing how it will fit in with my workflow. I can definitely see it not only having a place in my mixes but also making some other Hainbach plugins work well alongside it. I have had your other plugins for a while and enjoyed them all, especially Noises and Lines. And Gong Amp is really useful to me as is Motor in adding subtle colour and shaping to instruments. But now I can see possible projects that might bring a lot of these plugins together to produce a fantastic variety of sounds. Normally I'm a 70s synth kind of guy but I can see opportunities for other things opening up. As a teenager I thought I was reinventing the world when I discovered musique concrète (Birtwhistle, Stockhausen, Mimaroglu, Schaeffer etc) and now I can realise those teenage aspirations with some confidence! Thanks for all of your work.

...and then it gets normal and what do we do next 😱
@doctorc-ton1099
@doctorc-ton1099 Ай бұрын
@@sytsew It's a pendulum. Sound designs go in and out of fashion. As well, it's about what an artist does with the sound designs they employ. If I took the plugin and made garbage with it, then naturally, my music won't be listened to, nor seen as anything that defines that sound design. Though when Hainbach does it, or even when (and what if) Boards of Canada does it, then it's seen as state of the art, and is normalized. Why? Because it sounds good! That's the point. You can make music any way you want, and even if it's with 1980's Casio keyboards, or with all the "bad gear" ever manufactured, and it sounds good, is fun to listen to, has interest, says something profound (with or without lyrics) then what is normal? Good music just is and you know it when you hear it.

I do always love that "harmona" thing (appearing this time at the end of the video). Arguments, it appears, I will love as well. The mobile version I got immediately, and the plug-in for old-fashioned, bulky computers will follow when I get a moment. Though those devices currently need work to return to musical use, at some point I will get back to using them. It's important to have this new experimentation machine ready to perform its nuclear mathematics on my dopey music. I had discovered the charms of AudioThing some time before you began your collaboration, so I have been delighted to see you working together so well and with such frequency. Though this release schedule cuts into my minimal, disability-dole-based budget. I console myself with mangling my sounds and tell myself I'll eventually feel up to releasing some music, which is likely just my stubborn optimism drowning out an honest assessment of my health. At least there remains that optimism: I would be dead meat without it, long since. Thanks to you and to Mr. Thing for all the inspiration you provide. This time, I mean, and over the years.

You demonstrated this wonderfully, thank you! I'm still of two minds, since there is a lot here that depends on saturation and I am trying to add that mostly out of the box. So, I shall trial the plugin in order to convince myself that I can't live without it. That is what has happened with every other plugin you've made with Audio Things! (Oh, pretty please, could you find someone to make a Eurorack version of Dials? Even just the filters...?)

The CR-4A emulation is spot-on! Sounds and behaves pretty much like the ol' radioactive box itself! Lock-in mode, too...all the destroyed audio tastiness of my EG&G is there. Brings up an interesting point: why not create a NIM BIN virtual device that lets you swap modules ala VCV Rack? True, some NIMs don't music...but there's enough that do out there. Orrrrrrr...maybe a line of VCV modules based on NIMs? That's something people would probably pay for as a module pack. AND...you'd be introducing new musicians to the wonder of what they can do to one's sound. Wins all the way around!

Yes. That would be very cool, but I also love to mangle my Berna sessions afterwards with Dials, Lines, Wires an the like in a daw. And now Arguments, of course. I really admire the tools from Giorgio and also the limited vintage workflow, but it would be even cooler he would give us at least the possibility to use everything in a modern setup. So you have both worlds. Giorgio is stubborn.

Looks amazing, Hainbach! Question: is there any way to actively play the oscillator pitch… via midi perhaps (or in a forthcoming version)? It would be amazing to be able to tune it to a specific note and from there use it as a synthesizer voice, in addition to all the other stuff it can do…
@Hainbach
@Hainbach Ай бұрын
That is the struggle we always face - you can't play notes on an effect. Just not build into the VST standard. I personally dream of an instrument build on the oscillator we made here, so that might come.
@sawtoothwave
@sawtoothwave Ай бұрын
@@Hainbach That makes sense even though it's a shame! I wonder if there's some kind of way to use, e.g. a rack of Live devices to set up stepped modulation of the pitch knob to correspond to a chromatic scale, and then to send MIDI notes from another track into that rack... actually, this has me thinking, even just having a mode where you could lock the oscillator frequency to chromatic in addition to free would make that a lot easier because there wouldn't need to be as much precision in the incoming modulator signal... maybe for a future version... this is all academic because of course I'm buying this plugin, it sounds rad as heck. It's just doing what all good instruments do: getting me imagining the possibilities!
