Can you do a video on dying hair. I have greys at my crown but not the rest of my hair. I have dark brown hair just past my shoulders. Do I mix two different bowls? one 10 and one 20? and get two dye tubes. It just seems like I would be wasting one tube of dye for just a small amount of grey. Is there a better way to do this? i'm so sorry to hear that :( luckily for the future i feel like us new wave stylists are more interested in furthering both our own and our clients knowledge of hair vs old school either didn't know the answers because they never questioned the "why?" just knew that "when you do this, then this happen" or even when they did know they wanted to gatekeep the ancestors. i think youtube videos like this are a big reason why actually. it shifted the stylist culture into a more hospitable, educational, caring environment in the salons vs just trying to get people in and out so avoiding questions to maximize profit like we're taught to in school bc that's how they've always done things before us

Thank you! This was so helpful! I had highlights down about 6 weeks ago and I’m doing a toner touch up at home with Redken EQ shades using the same ones my stylist used. I did it last night with equal parts toner to equal developer 10 for 20 minutes (no cap or heat). It looks a little better but still a little brassy for my taste. I’m going to try a 20 developer. How soon can I redo it without hurting my hair or scalp? Thanks again!

Wow that was easy to understand. Now if you can explain toner vs. deposit only vs semi-permanent vs. rinse vs gloss. I see all these terms for products to use when you don't want to change color but freshen.

Great video, thank you for the very detailed explanation! I bleach my buzz cut at home. Because my hair is so short I can use 30 volume. I would describe my natural color as very light brown or dark (dishwater blonde). My scalp is not sensitive so I can leave the bleach on for the full time of 55 minutes and the result is a very pale yellow (light the inside of a banana). My question is regarding toner. I can not seem to find a toner that will get me to that perfect white platinum you see with a lot of beautiful blonde buzz cuts. I have used T18 toner but it seems to wash out very quickly and I still have pale yellow. Purple shampoo's (I've tried to many to count) do absolutely nothing to get the yellow out for some reason. I follow the instructions on the toner and use with 20 volume for about 15 minutes. If I leave it on any longer then my hair turns purple, not platinum. So frustrating! I have also tried Ugly Duckling professional brand high lift color in 100V. It says it will lift 2-3 levels using 30 volume. I pretty much am getting the same result. Am I missing something I could be doing or maybe a different brand toner?

A toner deposits a colour on the hair. Toners are usually required after bleaching of 'lifting'. If your hair is too good or copper for your liking Ash or Beige toner neutralizes those unwanted tones. Basically any dye can be used as a toner if you are wanting to alter the current color reflect

@brittneealexushair11 ай бұрын
henna is tough, unless you’re committed to that color for a long, long time i wouldn’t recommend it. it’s hard to remove, usually turns green removing. if you are having trouble with the grey and want to try color, before you apply your color put straight up 20 volume on your grey parts. let that sit for about 15 minutes (with a cap on- it gets runny) then apply the color over it. that helps really open up those though greys to absorb the hair color

really depends on what your outcome goals are but just remember the hair at the root will lift way faster- your head radiates heat and it speeds up the lightener, also if it's virgin hair it will go a lot faster

Just from this one video, I subbed. You are amazing at explaining this. I have a question: I went to a salon and she balayaged my hair, but it did not lift to the blonde I wanted. I paid and left unsatisfied (I have been going to this lady for about 6 years, she does amazing highlights but not so good on painting the hair without foils). So here I have yellow hair (level 8), I purchased T18 and a 10-cream developer. You are the second video I watched (the first was Brad Mando). Can you tell me if I have to avoid the dark parts of my hair and only place it on the yellow? And if I get it on my roots, will it lighten? I only want to remove the yellowness. I can accomplish this with purple shampoo, but it washes out and I am looking for something more permanent. Thank you in advance!
@brittneealexushair3 ай бұрын
yes, you will want to avoid the dark parts- it will lift it to an orange/brass- it will not look great. only put it on the blonde parts of the hair. If you are nervous about getting it on the darker parts, you can put conditioner on those parts to act as a barrier cream
