Can you do a video on dying hair. I have greys at my crown but not the rest of my hair. I have dark brown hair just past my shoulders. Do I mix two different bowls? one 10 and one 20? and get two dye tubes. It just seems like I would be wasting one tube of dye for just a small amount of grey. Is there a better way to do this? Thank you@@brittneealexushair

Hey! I'm planning to color my very dark brown hair to light warm brown. Will 6% 20 volume developer be enough? And Also I got to know that hydrogen peroxide solution does the same job as a developer. So can 6% hydrogen peroxide solution be used instead of 6% developer?

i'm so sorry to hear that :( luckily for the future i feel like us new wave stylists are more interested in furthering both our own and our clients knowledge of hair vs old school either didn't know the answers because they never questioned the "why?" just knew that "when you do this, then this happen" or even when they did know they wanted to gatekeep the ancestors. i think youtube videos like this are a big reason why actually. it shifted the stylist culture into a more hospitable, educational, caring environment in the salons vs just trying to get people in and out so avoiding questions to maximize profit like we're taught to in school bc that's how they've always done things before us

Last year I used a 50% Deevelopee at home, 1 hour + some change , 1st time ever bleaching my hair, to remove 4 layers of recently dyed hair (blue, green, red, black, brown). Scarest thing ever! and it Worked!!!! I used foils too. Love my blonde hair. ❤ but do no know if I would have the courage to repeat that. So glad my hair is a beast.

This video was so informative, thank you. A hairstylist friend told me that I could water down my developer if I needed something less strong and it turns out I only need about 8% to color my curly, porous gray so I’m able to do it at home and use just enough developer to cover my roots and cause the least amount of damage possible. But it’s so helpful to have all this context and information to understand what’s going on!

Great video, thank you for the very detailed explanation! I bleach my buzz cut at home. Because my hair is so short I can use 30 volume. I would describe my natural color as very light brown or dark (dishwater blonde). My scalp is not sensitive so I can leave the bleach on for the full time of 55 minutes and the result is a very pale yellow (light the inside of a banana). My question is regarding toner. I can not seem to find a toner that will get me to that perfect white platinum you see with a lot of beautiful blonde buzz cuts. I have used T18 toner but it seems to wash out very quickly and I still have pale yellow. Purple shampoo's (I've tried to many to count) do absolutely nothing to get the yellow out for some reason. I follow the instructions on the toner and use with 20 volume for about 15 minutes. If I leave it on any longer then my hair turns purple, not platinum. So frustrating! I have also tried Ugly Duckling professional brand high lift color in 100V. It says it will lift 2-3 levels using 30 volume. I pretty much am getting the same result. Am I missing something I could be doing or maybe a different brand toner?

A toner deposits a colour on the hair. Toners are usually required after bleaching of 'lifting'. If your hair is too good or copper for your liking Ash or Beige toner neutralizes those unwanted tones. Basically any dye can be used as a toner if you are wanting to alter the current color reflect

@brittneealexushair

henna is tough, unless you’re committed to that color for a long, long time i wouldn’t recommend it. it’s hard to remove, usually turns green removing. if you are having trouble with the grey and want to try color, before you apply your color put straight up 20 volume on your grey parts. let that sit for about 15 minutes (with a cap on- it gets runny) then apply the color over it. that helps really open up those though greys to absorb the hair color

really depends on what your outcome goals are but just remember the hair at the root will lift way faster- your head radiates heat and it speeds up the lightener, also if it's virgin hair it will go a lot faster

Just from this one video, I subbed. You are amazing at explaining this. I have a question: I went to a salon and she balayaged my hair, but it did not lift to the blonde I wanted. I paid and left unsatisfied (I have been going to this lady for about 6 years, she does amazing highlights but not so good on painting the hair without foils). So here I have yellow hair (level 8), I purchased T18 and a 10-cream developer. You are the second video I watched (the first was Brad Mando). Can you tell me if I have to avoid the dark parts of my hair and only place it on the yellow? And if I get it on my roots, will it lighten? I only want to remove the yellowness. I can accomplish this with purple shampoo, but it washes out and I am looking for something more permanent. Thank you in advance!
@brittneealexushair
@brittneealexushair 3 ай бұрын
yes, you will want to avoid the dark parts- it will lift it to an orange/brass- it will not look great. only put it on the blonde parts of the hair. If you are nervous about getting it on the darker parts, you can put conditioner on those parts to act as a barrier cream

My 14 yr old son had his hair bleached platinum white 2 months ago and his scalp blistered after. The toner was so painful that he cried during the process and the hairdresser was absolutely heartless to his pain he was in. It was traumatic and he’s scared to do it again but really liked the white and wants to have it again but is scared to do it. His hair is longer now with the top hair at 15cms and the back 5cms and would like advise going forward as to which volume you would recommend and if we should rather do foils so as not to touch the scalp🤷🏼‍♀️

I learned to do steady slow w bleach,,,,,, it’s tempting to do what she says 30 or 40 vol,,, but I’d seen much better results w slow and steady application

Love you and your style! I bought 20 volume cream developer, blue toner and shampoo which I will mix at a 1:1 ratio. Is this enough to cover my front "moneypiece" that covers my forehead ? I plan to put it on damp hair for 5-7 minutes. Is this correct???? THANK YOU!

Hi Brittnee, I did an at home keratin about a week and half ago. My roots need a little help with the grey(I’m traveling tomorrow), should I use a 10 developer instead of 20 since I’m not waiting the 2 weeks to color my hair? I’m trying not to ruin the keratin because I’ll need for the Caribbean 😂

Your Video was so helpful ! I might have one more question please, do I still need to bleach my black hair to light brown (dunno if bleach is the correct term) to achieve a dark burgundy/dark red brown color if i use a developer? Thanks so much!

I've used sun babe a peroxide and lemon-based hair lightener on my hair maybe seven times. I've also used weekly olaplex treatments of multiple treatments of theirs. My question is do you think it's safe to bleach my hair at home even if I do a test strand and what kind of developer should I use? My hair feels really healthy but it's so orange I started brown and I just want to get it really blonde thanks! Oh and I've never bleached or done my own hair at home ever I've always just paid a stylist but now I am a stay at home mom and would like to go with a more budget friendly option. Thanks in advance.

I’m a natural level 5-6 fine hair good condition no colour in it and wanting to bleach all over. Wondering if I should do 20 vol all over or part 20 part 30 so I don’t use 30 on the roots. Not sure if 20 will lift me to a 9-10.
