Exposure to hair dye has long been known as a significant risk factors for the development of allergic contact dermatitis among the exposed population as these lead to savere eczema of the face and upper trunk in the consumer and hand eczema in hair dresser.Currently, para-phenylenediamine (PPD) is the main ingredients used in permanent hair colour products in the market and is the most important allergen. Prevelance of PPD sensitization is high in patients with contact dermatitis across all continents, with hair dye use being the commonest cause.
