For some reason, I knew that you would use that particular dye - best black dye ever! I think it used to be called Black Leather. It's a perfect match to my natural hair color (I'm part Native American, so my hair is SUPER jet black), and I've used it to go back to "normal" when I got bored with my blue or fuchsia streaks in the past. I like that it's neutral without too much red or blue.

I have Afro textured hair (no chemicals, relaxers or anything) and what's so interesting is that with our different hair textures, we have similar hair routines. As you stated, you wash yours twice a week and I wash mine once a week. I also use leave in conditioner, prefer my hair jet black and use Argan oil (and other oils as well). Now, as for dye, I don't use dye per say but I do give my hair a henna treatment and indigo to remain jet black. It's funny because for years I wanted to color my hair but never did because it was relaxed and unhealthy. Now that it is healthy and no chemicals, I'm realizing how much I like my jet black hair and don't want any other color. Thanks for sharing...I always enjoy your videos. Happy Sunday!

I know that this my sound funny, but I'm going to be 41 next month and I never colored my hair or wore makeup. I would like to start wearing some makeup but I have no idea what I should buy and how to match the foundation to my skin color. If you could maybe do a video in what somebody starting out should buy and what its for and how to use it would be great.

There's lots of info out there about beginner makeup and how to's... just Google or search and I am sure you will find some great ones! Also, check back in Laura's archive! She has some really great tutorials and advice! I would say in general, you would want a good foundation (to even out the skin) a powder (to set and mattify) a blush, mascara, lipstick, eye liner and a few good eyeshadow colors! That would get you off to a good start! You may also want to get a good basic set of brushes that would include a powder brush, a foundation brush, a blush brush, an eyeshadow shader brush, and an eyeshadow blending brush (Real Techniques makes some really affordable good quality brushes found in Ulta) So that would be just a general basic idea for you to start out with, I'm sure Laura can give you some additional, and much more professional advice than I can, but I hope this helps slightly anyway! Good luck! And, you're never too old to start learning about and enjoying makeup!! I'm 45, and just got into it a few years ago myself! :) xo!

I would love to dye my hair black because it looks so beautiful on you! I have dark brown hair, but I've dyed it once black and it was a nightmare. It would not fade and I had to just let my natural color grow out because black is so hard to strip :(

Black is a very highly pigmented color it will not fade. Try using a semi permanent black because it fades to a dark brown in a couple months

Your hair is gorgeous! And I agree about the whole trying to use minimal heating tools! My hair started breaking in high school because I was using my flat iron too much. but as soon as I cut back on the straightening, it completely recovered. Can't wait to see the tutorial on this look! :)

I just colored my hair yesterday. I use the Garnier Olia in soft black, if you ever decide to try a different hair dye that one is excellent and has natural oils in the dye so it makes my hair look super luscious and gorgeous.

In my salon, if I'm coloring someone's hair darker than their natural level I always use redken shades EQ semi permanent gloss. I don't think the extra peroxide is necessary when going darker.

I've been using L'oreal for years at home. I go dark, currently I use soft black from the preference line. If I switch to a different brand...forget it : ( I also use the conditioner that comes with it and it's amazing, but I do love the macadamia too. I've dyed my hair a few times now, my first colour was black than brown with loads of blond highlights and than i went as a redhead.. now i'm slowly going back to my natural colour which is brown with natural blond and red highlights and in the summer if i stay in the sun the blond just comes out! when i was younger it was chestnut/blond hair.. now as i grew older it got darker. Just like my parents! my parents both started with blond hair and now my dad has black hair (with pepper'n'salt, cause he's older(70)) and my mum's a really dark brown but she dyes her hair auburn.. I don't think that i want to dye my hair anymore because it's really really long and i knid of missed my natural weave but we'll see if it ever happens. my hair is very silky soft and straight, i dont really use hottools unless its for christmas to take out the bushiness and to blowdry my hair, unless it's summer. (summer i leave it to dry to the natural air). Younger i used to use the flatiron everyday and my hair was horrible. I use my shampoo and hair conditioner and that's it.

You look Simply Lovely In this Video Laura; the plaid shirt...the jet black hair, the lipstick; everything just comes together. As far as using hair dyes go, I just more recently found out that my hair was "jet black"...literally no other colors show except an occasional white hair ;p I have thought about having my hair lighter.....but I think I am just going to work with what I got since I really don't like hair maintenance ;p God Bless!

Hi Laura! You have, have, have to try the Alterna Caviar CC Cream! This product has worked wonders, almost instantly. I used to use the It's a 10 also but Alterna's product is way better. My hair is very similar to yours, just that its a bit more curly. My curls have come to life, my hair is shiny, the texture is much better, I can go on and on! The Alterna product is pricey ($25) but so worth it.
