It was so interesting to watch how this cut was done, because if they didn't call this a modern mullet, I would have just assumed that this was a shag, it's often hard to tell those 2 haircuts apart, but from as far back as I can remember, people were always afraid to end up with a mullet because most people don't like mullets but a shag is a haircut that a lot of people really love and want but often can't find a stylist that can achieve that desired look

I have never thought they looked bad. My mom has tons of photos of herself and her friend group sporting properly cut mullets, and they look fabulous. The problem is that people often like to use the worst examples of mullets that are either worn by creepy-looking middle-aged men or kids whose hair was (badly) cut by their own moms in the '80s; rarely do you see good examples in circulation because it became popular to ridicule them after the trend faded. I also think far too many of the people who claim mullets look bad and lived during the time they were popular are just saying that because they cringe at their younger years (something we all do even if we didn't even look that bad back then).
