There are so many nuances to relaxing black hair because our hair has multiple variables: porosity, curl type, density, strand type, etc. My hair is superfine and breaks off on the relaxer touch up. I tried and tried. I always went to the salon. Every time I had to cut it all off…finally gave relaxers up.

quick thing to note at the end - with afro hair, sometimes even after you've relaxed it, if the roots are not bone straight and any semblance of that kinky hair remains, theres a good chance your hair wont move around so much, regardless of if you use product or not. I think she's saying it permanently changed her curl pattern for the hair that was growing out of her head, which is actually not possible as the shape of your hair is dictated by the shape of the follicle. Strait hair grows out of a round hole , wavy an oval, curly a leaner tighter oval etc. Think of it like curling a ribbon on a present with scissors. Themore pressure you apply, the tighter the curl. Alot of people think they changed their hair with a perm or a relaxer and then tell me it was when they were a teenager, like when your hormones and alot of other things change, including often your hair texture🤷♀️

Hi Brad, luv your videos just wanted to say that when relaxing hair your not meant to start from the bottom. But from near the middle/crown where your hair is most dense/curliest and do edges last because they are the most fine/delicate. It says something like this in the instructions. But your right you need to make sure you don't miss spots within each sectioned part of hair.

I enjoy your videos as well! I am a licensed stylist and would love to collab one day in the future. As for the video, the 2nd lady went to a salon at the end to get her hair evaluated and trimmed. The other two women did everything themselves, therefore I would say the 3rd lady had the best results. She also did more things right in her process.

I just have to say that you look great. I can't tell what's different, but whatever it is, it looks good on you 😁. I love the videos you make and I have referenced them many times while doing my hair ❤

I agree should do what they want with their own hair, but I love love the curly hair. I grew up in the 70s and was so envious of the black girls with the big curly hair, I think that's why we all got perms on the 80s, that's where our inspiration came from 😊

As a biracial girly, my hair is pretty fine, but I have a lot of it. I started getting my hair relaxed by my mom when I was maybe 11. Prior to that, I had a 'fro and hated it. Everyone thought I was a boy. I begged for years and she finally gave in. We started with Revlon Realistic from the pharmacy (GenX) When I was in my 20s, it become the Paul Mitchell lye straightener and in the early 2000s, I moved on to Matrix OptiSmooth, thio based treatment. My hair was amazing with the Matrix and I had it done twice a year for over 15 years. Then my hairdresser retired. As her replacement was doing my hair, I was correcting her. She was doing the steps wrong. I should have made her stop, but I didn't. Within days, my hair started breaking off. The dreaded nubs. Within a few weeks, the hair on the entire crown of my head was broken off. Thankfully, I still had hair around my face and the back, so I started wearing it clipped up. This was right before the pandemic, so I was able to hide away. I researched alternatives and last year, finally tried Keratin for the first time. It's perfect for me. My hair is wavy, but straightens easily. It feels healthy and I totally trust the Keratin specialist I researched for months! She used hair botox on the previously straightened hair and I'm so happy. Hair trauma is such a real thing. Thanks for your awesome content!

hair loss isnt the only potential side effect from relaxers, it can also cause cancer :(

You looked down at the desk when you asked us if we noticed something different. I didn’t notice until you looked. But love the mirrored desk lol
