I dyed my hair purple and my sister’s hair red (not pastel). Thanks to Hair Buddha’s videos and tips, we: 1- helped each other (it’s difficult to do by yourself). 2- used BlondMe with 20 volume developer 3- used _FINE SECTIONS_ 4- did *NOT* bleach all the way to yellow (stayed within the red range) The results were the best warm tone purple for me and burgundy red for my sister, and we are both EXTREMELY happy 💜❤ Thank you Hair Buddha 🌹

I think a lot of people grow up thinking hair color is like house paint or nail polish. Like as in they imagine it sits opaque on the surface, so it can be on any background, and can be layed as many times as they want. But in reality, it's more like tie dye or watercolor. You need a white background, and as you layer, the colors muddle. Is that an easy way to explain and imagine?

If you are painting properly, you will use a white primer before the next coat. Some paint nowadays comes with primer, but you really shouldn’t just paint over paint.
@DaBongo89Ай бұрын
Same as hair . You can’t put a pale pink paint over dark green and not get a mess of a colour. You need a white base coat /primer

I swear some people never played with paint when they were children haha. Like remember that when you mixed certain colors you obtained a nasty gray or green? Well, the exact same thing happens when you mix your dye colors with the incorrect base

Hair Buddha!! :-) I love your funny and informative videos. I've got a few questions for you about my hair. It is fine and nowhere close to as full as it was when I was younger. I've always gotten perms, and my hair has taken them so well that they stay in for two years. Well, for the first time in my life I had highlights put in my hair two months ago. According to your color book I have dark blonde hair naturally. I've always thought I was brunette even though I was born with true light blonde hair that had what I called Shirley Temple curls naturally. My hair darkened as I grew up. Anyway, I've also had a problem with getting my hair to grow longer than a little past my shoulders. I don't use styling products in my hair, I don't blow dry my hair, and I use a hair mask every 2-3 weeks (Spoiled Child brand). I like the way the highlights turned out, but I would really like more length and volume to my hair. Would you recommend extensions? If so, what kind would be best for fine hair? If there is a way you could message me, I could send you pictures of my hair now and from just before the highlights were put in. Maybe you could give me a better recommendation on a style, color, length, etc... I would really appreciate your opinion. I'm 52 and have to start my life over because of a car accident. I need to feel more positive about myself, but I would absolutely NEVER attempt to do my own hair. LOL. Can you advise me?

For the first girl.. I really liked her blonde. Add some dimension to that and it would be so beautiful. The purple looks like a purple shampoo mistake.

I kind of like the sort of purplish one in the end. It's not amazing, but I think I'd have been happy with it. Don't mix sodium bicarbonate with acids like vinegar or lemon joice - all it's going to do is react when you mix it together and do nothing much when it's on the hair
@littleflick5 ай бұрын
It basically turns into water. It also always drives me crazy when I see people try to clean with it. Baking soda alone maybe? It could help with scrubbing. But add an acid to it and it’s just nothing.

Ive used lunar tides purple and my color came out a perfect deep purple. Because i respect my hair i dont try to go white from my dark dark brown hair. Yes i only lift it to a brassy yellow, but I've never had a problem w my hair not taking color. Even when i did my hair a pretty minty green color, i had no problems. Could be that i take SECTIONS, FINE SECTIONS. And i make sure ALL of my hair is super saturated. I also apply this technique to my bleaching process.

Actually, using a dandruff shampoo mixed with crushed vitamin C pills (leave it on for about 2 hrs and rinse out) will lift some colour out, BUT it will only remove artificial colour, not natural colour. I've used it to lighten my colour when I've dyed it my usual medium brown, and occasionally it comes out too dark. Just 15:09 lifts enough of the dye to a bring it to a lighter brown. This mix will NOT lighten natural, undyed hair at all.

Now when i see ppl cutting their own hair or trying to cut others hair I cringe every time or simply groan "noooooo" then laugh. The concepts are remarkably close to one another. I also work/ volunteer at a shelter so sometimes i get dogs to practice on. I love seeing the before and afters. I confess i tried the whole vit C thing & other stuff after using what i thought was a tonal conditioner that came out bright pink like a direct dye, vibrant as anything! I'll save you the hassle - Don't bother. Head & Shoulders classic clean, cling film & a heat pad did help to lift the worst of it, but it took about half a dozen attempts.. I think it's zinc pyrithione that fades dye, so look for that in the ingredients. But be warned it's super drying, so don't bother with the coconut oil, get a deep, nourishing conditioner & leave it on. All the other stuff didn't work and if it's black, unless you want a dark brown just go to the hairdresser 👍
