That copper one had my jaw on the flooooor same as Brad! The difference was stunning. She looked SO much better with the copper than the black and blond split. And those self-cut layers came out so good. I'm impressed. The technique may not be spot on but that was some witchcraft how her hair looked so pretty at the end. Good on her!

The transformation from dark-to-light hair has altered my life in ways I never knew possible. Brad, I just want you to know that while I was studying abroad in Asia I watched your videos all the time. One day I went to a local salon and they took me from a virgin level 5 to a 10, put rainbow prism hair color in (which was amazing!!!), and since moving back to the states have kept it at just platinum that makes my pale green eyes pop. The confidence boost that having a hair color that makes you feel good can't be explained. So thank you for your vids, your reactions on fails, tips, and just your work. I have afro textured hair. The best thing I did was to divide my hair into sections and then bleach it for the same amount of time and use foils for the ends. I started with the back on one day, then do the front section last. It took ages but I lifted it to like a level 7 and went reddish pink. I now just use permanent color and I keep my hair copper red.

This is what I learned from a well-known stylist to the stars - if you’re going 2 shades darker or lighter, go ahead and do your own hair color. If you’re doing anything dramatic, like dark brown/black to blonde or blonde to dark, see a professional. Also, it takes MULTIPLE sessions spaced out over weeks to bleach from black/dark brown to blonde.

When people can afford it and/or are very attached to keeping most of the length and health of their hair I agree. But I'm poor, not super attached, and enjoy doing my own hair, mainly bright colours. I know its not perfect but I can only afford and prefer to do it in my home not needing to interact with people and be polite.
@celinahatton2653 Жыл бұрын
@@MothCreature13Agree 100% I'm not attached to my hair, I just grow it and colour it and cut it as the mood strikes, and I don't have to pay a hairdresser $300 for the privilege of watching them butcher my wave pattern on top of it

I do my own hair and have only ever try pro or training 1 time each. The pro was to fix uneven color from my first time dyeing. The training was to try to recreate something that I had done before and a cut. The cut cute and the dye job was the worst I had ever had. So if I can't on my own I have a friend or family member do what I can't.

Personally when going dark to light ive always found it easier to apply from root to ends in the first round. The whole head processes, you get nice bright (hot) roots, and then in the second process all you have left to focus on is getting the mids and ends to match the roots. The one time I tried doing it the "right" way I ended up with the craziest banding that took ages to correct. If you're going all blonde I don't see the issue with "hot roots" because the whole point is your whole head should be lifting to that color anyway lol
@celinahatton2653 Жыл бұрын
I suspect that you're a natural talent. We see a lot of these videos with people trying to correct for hot roots (which is kind of your thing, except you're not correcting because it was planned) and they still end up with banding. Any special tips on your process?
@skitebird Жыл бұрын
@@celinahatton2653 Honestly ive always found it's so much harder touching up just roots (especially my own!) rather than getting a whole head of dark hair to a nice even blonde in like 2-3 sessions. Lol When you get hot roots it's so much easier to just avoid overlapping onto them by putting another round through the mids and ends. You can see, feel, and monitor those a lot better when you're doing it yourself. Also, when you're not a professional it's hard to know how high up before you stop on your mids to avoid hot roots. Go a little too far up bc it was hard to see and bam you've got a weird lighter yellow patch before the bleach as even touched your actual roots! Also, bc nobody at home uses foils correctly or at all, they get weird patchy spots from putting bleach through the mids and ends and then it like flops down onto ~rooty~ spots of your hair/head and makes weird patches. Basically, when you just bleach your whole head and get hot roots and you can actually *feel* your way around the mids and ends during round 2. Like imo it just requires slightly less precision (still be very careful ofc). I hope that makes sense! 😭

I think if I get brave enough to go blue I'll get it done professionally, that's if my hubby doesn't freak out at the idea lol
@katvb4550 Жыл бұрын
I started going grey at 16 and I am now 30 and fully grey. 😅😅 I did the dark red until 2 years ago then grew the grey out and do it with semi permanent blue (it doesn’t stick to natural grey) so I just change my colour all the time. If you want blue! Do it!!
@tuttyfat Жыл бұрын
Good idea re professional especially since you've decades of colouring it darker and red. If you want to try out a bright colour without fully committing to it, have you colourist dye a block or long strip (forehead to crown) right under the very top layer. That way you can control how much of it is seen: part it with the top layer covering it for just a peek of colour or part it in the coloured strip so the bright colour is on top. This way you don't have to worry about the roots as much because the top layer will cover the roots when it begins to grow out.

@@janedyck8852 my pleasure. I did it for years with a bright pink or red (both fade to a cotton candy pink). It looks more mature than all over bright colour and bosses don't have a problem with it like they can with all over colour, I've found. I only had a professional do it once then I dyed it myself afterwards. It was easy to follow what she did. And since the roots aren't showing its ok to not get it perfectly there. I even dyed my white poodles ears bright pink when I did my own lol. (It was manic panic so safe for dogs. I have naturally light dirty blonde, high porosity hair so even temporary or "washout" colour behaves as permanent dye with mine.)

I know it’s schadenfreude but I love watching these fails videos! 🤷🏼♀️ It is an excellent reminder for me to leave my hair to the pros.

These videos scared me enough to send me to a salon to gradually work on lightening my black box dyed hair. It's been once a month since April and I'm still brassy af, but now also broke 😢😂🤡

But your hair will become more beautiful instead of worse. And you won't go bald or have to cut your hair heavily because it breaks off. Good luck 🍀🍀

I've been there a few times lol. Jet black box dye over platinum blonde, gradually back to platinum. The in between months are rough, going around with that yucky copper colour. Worth it in the end tho.

I am a Curly Haired Queen who is currently on a hair lightening journey. It is being done by my hairdresser, doing multiple sessions with 20 volume. Sessions are separated by 6 weeks. Currently 2 sessions in and we haven't done my roots yet. They will be added to the process this next session. Plus, my curl pattern is holding strong. My Curls are looser, but not completely gone yet. Been doing lots of moisture and protein treatments in between bleaching sessions. Fingers crossed I get the outcome I want by my Birthday next month.😊

Just a random compliment, I love the playful blue /dark/short on the sides hairdo on you, Brad.

I think the non uniform bleaching actually helps a dye job look more "natural" as normal hair is never one solid color. So the splotchiness actually helps create deeper tones and lighter tones that give the hair depth and dimension.
