Who else has been dealing with Under-Processed Hair lately? I know I'm not the only one😂💞
@TeeBel052 жыл бұрын
Hey Val! so glad to see another video. I have not dealt with under-processing but I am dealing with thinning in some areas of my hair. I had a visit with my doctor today and asked her to refer me to a dermatologist to see if there is anything that needs to be addressed. She added a few tests to my blood work for them as well. I have been sticking to a consistent hair care regimen that seems to work. I just need to see how I can get my hair to grow a little thicker if possible. I will see what the dermatologist come up with too. I glad things have got better for you.

I'm suffering now 😩 I changed the country where I live so I was struggling to find a hairstylist to do the relaxer for me I used the same relaxer than I'm used to but the process she used was totally different than what I'm used to and now it feels like I didn't even relax 😩 I might need to learn how to do it by myself

I've been natural for the last year and a half, but I was relaxed for a very long time before going natural. I like to watch both relaxed and natural hair care videos because I believe healthy hair care is universal. I have noticed that some other relaxed ladies are having the same challenges with their hair that you discussed. For a while now I've been wondering if something is going on with the manufacturing of these relaxers. If maybe their compromising the quality and integrity of the ingredients their using. The vast majority of black women are natural now a days, so they're not making as much money on relaxer. I'm wondering if maybe they're cutting corners on these ingredients because we all know it's about the bottom line for these companies.
@SimoneBrown2 жыл бұрын
My best guess is that because demand has dropped they are selling older products
@diva4life3612 жыл бұрын
@@SimoneBrown I doubt if that's the case. People may not be aware of it, but relaxers have an expiration date. Stores can't sell them once the shelf life has passed. I know someone who accidentally purchased an expired relaxer that got left on the shelf. She said it had a very strong ammonia smell to it. When she looked on the bottom of the box for the date, she saw that it was expired. Unfortunately, she had already started putting it on her hair and that section of her hair broke off.

Under processing can really make or break your relaxer journey just as much as over processing. That was why I hated stretching my relaxer beyond 10 wks. Because I’d have so much new growth, I’d never have enough relaxer to get through my entire head. So I’d have sections that didn’t get any relaxer on it, other sections that only got a little, and others that were over processed because I didn’t know where my new growth started or ended. I love relaxed hair but I don’t take care of my hair well enough for them. I hope you get it figured out. It’s still gorgeous. They may have changed the ingredients or potency of it. That’s been secretly happening to a lot of products lately.
@latoyaturner7432 жыл бұрын
I think I have been doing that as well. According to how fast your hair grows as well. My hair grows fast as well so stretching will have too much new growth which can cause it to be under processed. Under processing do cause the hair to get damaged. When relaxing every 2 weeks a steam or heat cap is needed. That way it helps keep hair healthy.

When I did my hair I had no type of breakage but I got a little more shedding then when started to trim my end I going to notice the crown part of head the hair there had some damage to it I wanted to cry but I keep the faith an say jo it's gonna grow back dont worry yourself are else it would get worse. I would never do knotless again I would do the normal braiding cause I don't get no problem at all with that type of braiding. I just get to know the struggle with hair is real but we can't give up. Hey Val. Apparently, they are sending out old product in most cases coming from the warehouses in general. Unfortunately, I also ended up underprocessed. I have experienced alot of shedding as well. Prior to that, i had little to no breakage and i was retaining length so well. This month I was pretty much forced to cut around 3 inches off my length to try to regain control of the breakage this last I'd say 3 relaxers gave me. My hair is starting to thicken back up finally. But i was just as tired and frustrated as you are. This too shall pass. Let's stay positive ✨️ next goal is healthy length retention for the remainder of 2022.

First of all, greetings my beloved sisters Val and Mel in the mighty name of Jesus Christ our Lord and God. Respect ✊🏽 to you Val. Yes, my hair was under processed the last time I retouched it. I noticed that too. I relaxed my hair only last year August 2021. Then I followed you and three quarters of my hair regime is from following up with what you do Val. My hair has grown so long and healthy. There is one thing that I do with my hair that you don’t do with yours. I use Chebe powder and mix it up into a paste and include this in my moisture LOC tender loving care of my hair. Then I have practically no shedding. None at all. I braid my hair and tick away the ends. My hair is LUSCIOUS!!!! The challenge with using chebe powder is people have different lifestyles. I don’t care about leaving the paste in my hair 24/7 and then I wash my hair and (all the products you use( then still put the chebe powder paste back into my hair. My hair does not break at all. When my hair is as long as yours. I will rethink how often I incorporate chebe powder into my hair regimen. My hair is growing up to my shoulder blades, so my English husband tells me. Amen Hallelujah Hallelujah. Thank you Val for your channel.

Hello ladies! KZbin didn’t seem it necessary to alert me that you all responded to my comment! I do believe my medication has contributed to thinning because I noticed the thinning once I started taking it. My stylist was using the Demi permanent color to cover my grays. Thanks for sharing!! I have been curious about the Affirm system as well, but probably won't be trying it after seeing this😂 I have been having the problem of my hair reverting after a few weeks for quite a long time. Maybe 5 years??😓 This is why I don't have the coveted WL or MBL yet, because my hair keeps breaking and I have had to use heat bi weekly, or blowdry it but still wind up brushing it daily to get it to lay down. All of which is so bad, but I'm learning. I've been coating my ends for the last year or two, which helped tremendously. I have been slowly increasing my processing time by 2-3 minutes increments each time.. The back of my hair is "perfect" to me now, but the front still needs a bit of finessing. I've been trying for YEARS to air dry and use less heat, but the hair reverting has been a thorn in my side. I've just been taking good notes on my phone calendar each time I relax and make a game plan to improve next time. That's all we can really do is just learn from the bad times and adjust accordingly. I'll be relaxing my hair this weekend actually 🙏🙏 Hopefully it will turn out right once and for all... Thanks again for sharing, this video was very relatable! ❤️💯

Hey Val. 1st--So happy you guys are doing ok😁 2nd--Your hair looks AMAZING!!! 3rd--I recently suffered from under-processing. Like you, I had been using the same relaxer for years (Silk Elements lye). I had stretch for one whole year 😲, When I finally relaxed, I was indeed texlaxed. My roots were beautiful, my ends were still straight from before. But mid-shaft....😟 I waited a month and kinda went over the textlaxed part and it wasn't any big improvement.😣 So I said forget this and on my next relaxer day I used the boxed Soft and Beautiful and finally got the results I wanted. I had stayed away from boxed b/c of calcium deposits, but if I'm going to be going through this ish, why bother? I got me a good chelating shampoo (2, actually) and now my hair was straight, shiny, and beautiful. Don't know if it was the year-long stretch, old relaxer, or what. Don't know what I'll do next time, but S&B has never let me down. And the Keracare Humecto Conditioner you recommended....👌🏽👍🏽👌🏽👍🏽 My hair has NEVER felt more moisturized. I know this was long, but I wanted you to get the whole picture. Thanks for all you do!!! (and your sister).

My other problem has been shedding. Thanks to you, I know it’s an iron problem because I’ve always been anemic. My last issue was my fault too. I’ve been getting terrible tangles like the last two weeks before a new relaxer. It was because of me being stubborn about not wanting to get in the shower to wash/rinse/cond. loving that kitchen sink too much. My hair too long now. I’m glad you and your family are well Val! Keeping hair on your head can be stressful at times! I’m glad you reflected on what could have went wrong and adjusted according. Girl I would have given up and lost half of my hair. 😂 Or, I would have tried all of these different products wondering why isn’t anything working. I think you returning back to your tried and true is a good example for the rest of us. Stick with what was working beforehand. Thanks for sharing!

Glad you and family are feeling better. I had the exact same experience with Affirm No Lye, and a few others. I eventually settled on Syntonics which is my sweet spot. I have always had to leave in a little longer and smooth more. My hair is resistant. But I have made peace (and joy) with the little texture left back.

I unfortunately have had the big c 2x but the crazy shed was after the 1st time 2021 but 82nd time since using bhringraj I have seen less and less shedding. I was natural at first from 2017-2022. A relative of mine was going to take care of my natural hair, but when COVID hit, she shut her shop down. So, I went back to relaxed. I do use Affirm, and I still love it. I am due for a relaxer. Last one was in February of 2024. Will put the next one between September and November. Every 7-9 months.

I had to leave my beautician of 7 years in 2021 She really helped maintain my relaxed healthy hair. She was using Affirm and I loved the texture. Its now 2022 I've had a baby and oh my goodness the shedding is nerve wracking. I did my first relaxer after baby with ORS and the texture is totally different. I didn't like it. It may have been an old relaxer because my hair is now under processed and breaking. Im trying to catch it before my length is jeopardized. It's truly heartbreaking. Love your content I do follow your journey thanks for posting the pros and cons.

I used to use ors faithfully but about 3yrs ago switched to mizani because I wanted to use a professional relaxer but it's quite mild and leaves texture, so much so that no matter how fast or slow I go I get the same results. I don't even bother with a timer. I don't mind the texture but last month my bss didn't have mizani so I got ors and it was great, I forgot how much I loved that relaxer so I've decided to maybe just switch it up. I relax 3x's a year so one of those I'll use ors. Your hair looks amazing and I'm glad you got everything back on track. 💜

It maybe time to switch relaxers. Years ago my hairdresser suggested I switch from design essentials, to Affirm with fiberguard sensitive scalp. Best decision ever. I got Affirm sensitive scalp in 1993 been getting sensitive scalp relaxers since then. Affirm is one of the best relaxers out there been around about 30 years now. The old expired stuff is always in the front, especially food, always shop from the back lol. It's unfortunate Affirm didn't work for you.❤️

Hi Val, I always watch your relaxer videos. I think I've actually watched all and still rewatching most of your videos😀 I just wanted to say that because of you, I have changed the way I neglect my relaxed hair, I did that because my hair was shedding excessively, and it was getting soooooo thin, it still is. But I decided to change all that by doing the same steps you did when relaxing your hair, even using the same products! The only product I was unable to find was the Joico brand. I also used to use the box relaxer, which was not helping my hair at alllll! I decided to switch to the ORS regular strength in the jar, (you know, the same one you use🙂). And after following the twisting method you use and products, Listennnnn Val, I just wish I could give you a BIIIGGG HUG! because my hair felt sooooo good and the shedding was less, because I also did that black tea treatment you did before my relaxer. I'm just hoping I can get my fullness back, I also did a little trim as well. But THANK YOU VAL❤!!!! YOU ARE THE BEST😘
