Clamp your work to the drill press table. You've a well equipped shop to be able to make this tool, and now it's even better equipped. This bender looks better and is simpler than most I've seen here. thanks

Jolly nice. Handy to use the vertical wall of the plate instead of a blocking pin. Keeps the rod ahead of the bend straight.

This is exactly the type of tool I need to make with my everlast to aid in bending metal. Thank you

Made one similar to yours to bend 1/4" round. Works great. Still use a cheap Harbor Freight bender to do 3/8" rebar which is much stronger. Thanks for the idea.

Great to know it inspired you. I would love to see your version.

Wow. Just a bit of scrap metal and some elbow grease with my everlast welder and I can make something that can bend like that. That is great stuff.

Thanks Mate, glad you like it.

It's simple and effective I like it. If I make one I'll opt to drill a hole for the Tube on the angle and slide it through so it can be welded from the bottom. The clean joint at the top of the angle will be in the middle of the angle so I can use other larger tubes to slide over the main tube for larger diameters. It will need some bar stock as backers for the smaller diameters. The bending bar, I'll opt to make the inner pin pass through the bar at various holes in a line to give it some adjust-ability. Minor improvements on a good design. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks mate. Sounds like a great idea. I would love to see a video of your version if you make one.

Well maybe, but if you look me up, I have only done one video and I hate the sound of my voice. I feel like I sound whiny or gay when recorded.
@taswesty7 жыл бұрын
I know exactly what you mean. I hate the sound of my voice on recordings. It's all nasally and dopey. It sounds to me like I'm bored :-) You could always do a video without talking. Plenty of good KZbinrs do.
@RollinShultz7 жыл бұрын
I could do as you suggest but it would be hypocritical as I have always hated it when youtubers do it and even condescended them for it. I would rather listen to someone speak broken English and be themselves. If I do it I will have to do it maybe somewhat as a power point with a running script to pass on the information. I guess I just have to get over myself and do it and let my voice be my voice and me be me.
@taswesty7 жыл бұрын
Definitely give it a go. It can't hurt to try.

What a great video! Thanks so much! Just wondering what size the outer tube is? Whats the radius of the bend?
@taswesty8 жыл бұрын
Thanks!! The outer tube diameter is 33mm so at a guess the inside radius of the bend would be about 17mm. The angle ends up at almost exactly 17 degrees.

Very nice one, I will surely make one during my free time. Can you tell me what's the reference of your welding machine please? Thanks JM
@taswesty7 жыл бұрын
G'day JM. Good to know people are making them. Unfortunately my welder is only a relatively cheap one, so it doesn't have actual figures on the settings. I just have it set at 3 on the wire feed and 3.5 on the power setting. Sorry i couldn't be more help.

Awesome, apparently you know you've made it as a youtube maker when someone complains about the cost of the tools you've used. Thanks for the support :-)

I am not ripping you, just teasing you. Your set up is pro grade, and most of us are using Sawz-Alls and pap's old grinder at best. That was why I initially watched, to see how another guy would do it, and I was all "OK now, brother" when I saw that laser-guided missile cutter in action. Anyhow, thanks for posting, it is interesting, if well beyond my shop abilities
@taswesty7 жыл бұрын
No worries. Unfortunately there is always some who has less than yourself and others that have more. I'm envious of other people who have bigger and better tools than I have. My intention was just to show how you could 'do it yourself' instead of buying something off the shelf. I'm sure someone could come up with a way of making the same thing with less tools.

@taswesty7 жыл бұрын
G'day MrSmitt10, Thanks for the interest but sorry, don't have the time at the moment. The other thing is freight from where I live is very expensive. Probably would be cheaper to get someone local to make one for you.

Hi Tas, I thought you were Aussie, then two things confirmed your voice, SCA welding gloves and a Geelong Cats Logo on your windcheater. Now to work out just where in OZ you are?? Given the number of views for this clip, I am really surprised you are only at 476 subscribers? Got me beat. Count me as Subscriber 477. Mark

G'day Mark, not bad investigative work. I reckon my name's a bit of a give away too :-) Not sure about the subscriber numbers, but every one I have is appreciated, including yours. Thanks mate.

Can you tell me the measurements?
@taswesty6 жыл бұрын
G'day Smiler Smile. I don't really have any measurements because I just winged it as I went along. The solid round bars are about 25mm (1 inch) diameter and about 50mm (2 inches) long with about 25mm gap between them. The round tube is just cut to fit and the handle is about 1 metre long.
@Shoobylives8 жыл бұрын
interesting, but I wish that videos like this were not shot in real time. Just a brief shot of the setups is enough...we'll take it on faith that you actually sawed/drilled,welded all the parts. With that minor gripe, well illustrated and great video quality.

NIce work! Was the distance between the 2 pins on the handle important? I saw that you measured them.
@taswesty7 жыл бұрын
G'day Tom. The exact measurement isn't important. It just needs enough clearance to allow for a couple of different sized rods, but not be too wide that the bends aren't sharp.

Nice one buddy, I really love Ur studio settings and clever style but the only problem am having with U is Ur safety measure is too poor. U use Ur bear hands for power tools? That's really bad Pls always put on Ur gloves. by the way what the liquid U using there? Coolant or lubricant or something else. One love
@taswesty7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your compliments and your concern for my safety. The liquid is just a cutting fluid that acts as a coolant. I really should set up a drip feed for it, but that can be a later project.
