Surprised to see this as a national tour cast.. seems like a regional production. The acting was extremely overdone..

I think they were directed to do that because of the “non-equity” factors of the tour. The sets were cheaper, the lighting was minimal, and the orchestra had less musicians. What holes were exposed in the “cheapness” of the production values were replaced with over-the-top acting and movements to distract audience members from the obvious.
