Did anyone actually play this in the arcade in the 90's? Why are there so many noobs here talking about playing this game for the first time within the past 5 years on one of these ports. I can't believe this. Am I really this old? Maybe all the people I played against in the arcade are dead.

Hat Duken well, given the fact that vampire arcade cabinets are really rare now, like i just checked on the arcade museum site and yeah there are hardly any of them because there hasn't been a new game for almost 15+ years. its also not that popular as street fighter anymore due to the hype only being in japan and very little in the us. but yeah this series is dead

Hiyolo Swagionji Maybe it wasn't that big in the U.S. In Australia, I saw this game everywhere in many arcades back in the 90's and it's been released on the PS1, Saturn, PS2, PSP and PS3. It's a crime that not many people seem to know this game. This is one of the best fighting franchises of all time! It was always refreshing to play a fighter that wasn't full of martial arts experts, but more of a cartoon/fantasy theme with mythical creatures.

I honestly don't remember it in arcades where I was. I was in small towns and remember SF, MK, Afterburner, and all the beat em ups. I guess it wasn't very popular where I was. I played SF, MK, and MvC, but only casually. My brothers and I weren't hardcore into fighters, and I got more into them in the past 6 or 7 years. I completely missed 3S as well. Didn't play it until OE came out. It's too bad too because I really like these games and am sorry I missed them in their hay day.

Actually now that you say it, I never remember seeing Darkstalkers 1 or 2 in the arcade. only this one (Part 3), was quite popular. I guess because when 1 and 2 were out it was the SF and MK craze in full swing and nobody played anything else so operators didn't bother getting many other fighters as long as they had 10 SF2 Turbo's lined up people were happy. I think when this game was out it was after MK and SF had died down so fighters (particularly 2D) were becoming scarce. That probably explains when you didn't see it. But yeah, these games are unbelievably fun.

You're right, they're fun as hell. I, pretty sure I saw Morrigan (MvC) well before knowing anything about DS. I loved her in that game, but didn't know what she was from. I found out about DS much later. Better late than never though, right? I'm glad I did finally get to give it a go though. I love Hsien Ko, even though I'm terrible and out of practice now.

BB hood forgot to use "cool hunting" that could have been the total difference or make the combo "beautiful memory" and immediately after the opponent is landing from the throw into the pool of tears in that very moment is very vulnerable as falling from sky and receive him with "cool hunting" while still in the air*
