I lived in Houston when Rockets won back to back championships. The city had a great time during this era - streets, buildings, restaurants, clothes, vehicles, etc were all decorated. The city was on 🔥!

Footwork/speed combination, best seen at 3:38 is what separates Olajuwon from the great centers of his era. This is why most rate him ever so slightly ahead of Shaquille O'Neal, and then Robinson, Ewing. That speed also enabled superior defense, including blocks and steals.

Excellent point. What is never mentioned is that Hakeem averaged 27 a game in that series despite the refs and NBA letting the Knicks' frontcourt butcher him repeatedly. The series would have been over in five games if the Knicks hadn't been allowed to play football out there.

So glad someone assembled Olajuwon unleashing the full arsenal on the Knicks in game 4 - what a total destruction by one of the ten greatest players of all time.

@@brodyhoskins4761 The Rockets would've undoubtedly presented bigger problems compared to what the Bulls usually faced. The Bulls knew how to gameplan for low post players that powered their way to the basket the Rockets had a low post player that could shoot without putting it on the floor, go baseline, and shoot freethrows. The single coverage defense strategy usually didn't work that often against the Rockets tbh I see the Bulls having the same problems every other team did when they didn't double. The Rockets also didn't use the standard system with the PG being the primary playmaker they did it as a team overall which made it difficult to really gameplan for them. As a matter of fact in this series the top 3 assist leaders weren't any of the guards which was extremely rare. The Rockets had stronger interior defense compared to the other West teams the Bulls went up against as well. The Suns played a lot of small ball and the Rockets were still eventually able to figure out how to defend them so yeah, they would be a much more difficult matchup than people think.
