It wasn't a miracle, the Rockets were not a very good team. It ended up being a balanced series between 2 subpar offensive teasms, but good defensive units, both led by superstar centers. To this day, I consider this run by Hakeem as the biggest carry job to a championship. He had to do everything on both ends. Surely, he had a good defensive roster around him and they were a great 3 point shooting team, but he had to create, score and be the defensive anchor. Ewing was in a similar situation, but he wasn't Hakeem. Games 6 and 7 were anomalies. Starks became prime Curry in game 6, Hakeem blocked the championship winning attempt and in game 7 Starks became Lakers Westbrook in his worst shooting night.

Hakeem did what he was supposed to do but winning with that squad was extremely possible given the state of the era he was in at the time of those 2 chips which was well below prior eras. Hakeem’s 2 chips wouldn’t fly in the past 3 decades before he won them at all but at that time it was perfect opportunity Still a 2 more impressive seasons than anyone else in the 90s as well as those who came after him including Kobe n Dirk

Individually, I'd put that 94 run by Hakeem at #1, followed by Duncan in 03 and maybe Jordan's 97 run at #3. From a team perspective, I'd also place Hakeem's Rockets at #1, but the 1995 run

During late 70s id say wes unselds run was more impressive and in the 80s birds run for sure and Moses run These guys had better teams than hakeem but the level of the league and competition was far above the margin of the level of the league and competition that hakeem was against relative to his help

@@Baselinehangtime8 Well, I'm not talking about level of play, otherwise Jordan and many others would have been mentioned. It was more about what a player had to do on both ends for them to win. I wouldn't say Bird carried the 81,84 nor 86 teams to a victory, although he was flawless in 84 and 86. Jordan was amazing in 1991, but I would say the same thing, he had a good team around him and didn't have to do as much. Unseld averaged less than 10ppg in the 78 playoffs and had Dandridge and Hayes averaging over 20, so he would fall under the same logic imo. If we were just talking about best individual runs, we could come up with so many, we'd be here forever trying to rank them lol.

Calling Ewing a cone defensively is legit scary lol Did you watch any videos of just ewings defense alone? That same play in the beginning of the video is happening to Draymond green Rudy gobert and Wemby easily as it was A nice draw to the rim by 2 attackers with Hakeem’s bail out pass that u don’t see much of today in sequence and Ewing was already helping. Ewing was the stamp of the Knicks defense and no they weren’t anywhere near the greatest defensive team all time but great for the era Porzingis I be extremely surprised if he makes a roster pre00s

The Knicks were not a great team. They were a great defensive unit, led by Ewing of course, but Pat had to constantly carry the offense. In this finals, he tried to do to much, forced a lot of shots and in the end was outplayed by the best center in modern history. It is what it is.

It's crazy how you're judging Patrick Ewing by his stats against the best Defensive Center in his era!! Nobody's talking shit about Shaq vs Olajuwan and he didn't do any better against Olajuwan. Go watch his highlights against any other center in the 90's before you continue to shit on Ewing's game
