Well, they are both yeast spreads, though vegemite (and New Zealand marmite, which has more in common with Australian vegemite than British Marmite) is a lot less... liquid.

@@neo_child It has a lot of B vitamins which could come in handy I guess. High in sodium too which helps if it's an illness that makes you sweat a lot, like the flu/cold. Liquid too so easy on the stomach.

Yup, with cheese or on buttered toast it's brilliant, for broth I prefer bovril but I've used both marmite and vegemite as soup seasoning before when I haven't had stock cubes

If you ever try vegemite, it smell and taste fermented like miso at first, but have distinct slightly bitter aftertaste and aroma afterward (some people describe as stink). It definitely not mean to consume in large quantity at once (as some challenge in youtube might do) as it pack very condensed flavour like miso 😅. Thank you for listen to my ted talk

I actually was able to make a variant of a cheese ramen using vegemite when a friend of mine gave me a tube. All I did was treat it like concentrated soy sauce, mixing maybe 2/3rds of a teaspoon into the broth. Added some extra chili flakes, chopped scallions, and a bit of honey. Was _surprisingly_ good.

I’m loving this series so far, but I’d really like it if Bae added a history lesson about the origins of Vegemite. It was originally created from used brewer’s yeast being dumped by breweries. Vegemite was literally made because someone was told to make a spread from one of the byproducts of making beer

Please try Miso, which Subaru and Botan mentioned, when you come to Japan, Kaigai-Niki. Miso soup is the most common way to enjoy Miso, but you may find also it with other meals such as vegetables.
