My analysis of each case Bae: Very well rounded and full of energy. A great opening to the debate Cecilia: I can respect the teamwork of relegating a part of the case to be handled by each individual member and focusing on attacking coffee as a response to Bae's opening was a very well timed move. However, I'm a bit worried about the specious reasoning used for many of the arguments she used especially at the end. I've done a lot of independent research on the website Cecilia used and discovered that it not only lacks any sort of peer-review, but is a study funded by Big Tea and there has been no attempt to replicate it what so ever. Very sus. Biboo: Easily the weakest argument of the night. Most of it was subjective opinions based around the assumption that she could coast on her cuteness, but even that can only get you so far when you start shilling for drinks that are not coffee. Fauna: I didn't really understand a lot of what she said, but it sounded very smart and was said very confidently. It also fit in very well with Cecilia's strategy of divvying up the arguments. Easily the strongest argument of the night. Raora: There were hints of points (especially at the end) that, if expanded upon, could have served as a counter to Fauna's argument but in language the audience could actually understand. Unfortunately, the points weren't organized very well (especially with the tangent about espresso being phrased in a way that hurts the coffee side when it could have been used to bolster it quite effectively) and the rap at the end seemed like unnecessary pandering. Nerissa: Probably the weakest argument on Team Tea. If it weren't for the strong case already established by Cecilia and Fauna prior this could have easily sunk Team Tea. Nerissa's refusal to structure her points makes it seem like she's throwing random things at the wall just to see what sticks. Likewise the point that was ultimately focused on was one that was ultimately already covered by Cecilia prior. I wanted Team Coffee to win coming into this, but I must begrudgingly admit that Team Tea clearly won.

Fauna preped sth I learned after entering univesity and took the biochemistry class then... that's amazing I had tested myself drinking coffee or tea before exams and noticed my performance dropped by 30% when I had coffee before math, physics and those need logical thinking. (If I had coffee in the entrance test then I might not be able to learn these tbh...) Those related to language, such as writing or grammars are fine to me though... Still a question emerges here. Why those professors and research fellows drinks coffee rather than tea most of time? Since they are writing sth for the breads and expense tomorrow, or they're really overworking? idk. Actually I dirnk both but I have a high BP since I got birth defect on kidneys and drinking coffee always make me hard to breathe (aka neurons too excited, so I only drink coffee when I'm preping important reports and need to be awake for more than 24hrs, or I'm just gonna enjoy the breaking time, no tasks but chills only later) So I believe it's by cases and your needs (taste the bitter as your life etc) BTW about the kidney stones, tea has oxalate which could be related to increased risk of developing kidney stones I saw some researches since 2020~ said that oxalate in tea has low bioavailability and the caffine does increase the urine flush, so the overall effects seems to be preventive more than inducing stones. Just *don't forget to drink water* and brush your teeth if you mind the appearance Better be aware of additives in canned or bottled coffee or tea, I recommend fresh one if you have time. The structure of L-theanine is similar to glutamate so you can think it as an imposters binds to the receptors (contact the agents) and then just controlls the place so the receptors becomes not that sensitive to the glutamate signals to the receptors... Details are quite complicated and I believe some parts are still unclear, but some clinical, I mean, the effects seems to be well-studied as this point effects of caffeine (review): Brain Res Brain Res Rev. 1992 May-Aug;17(2):139-70. alpha wave: Asia Pac J Clin Nutr. 2008:17 Suppl 1:167-8. (You can see lots of paper discussing how theanine benefits human but the mechanisms, ugh)

I'm extremely sensitive to caffeine, it triggers severe anxiety and panic attacks for me so I'm water gang. Although I used to be team coffee before I developed the caffeine sensitivity (dunno how that even happened to be honest)
