So true! His route I think is my favourite. Not only is his character so well developed, but his storyline was one of the most interesting. It pulled your heart strings in every which way - the tragic moments such as his loss of Kondou; the heart warming passionate moments he shares with Chizuru; all the playful and entertaining times in between... Also the different take on Kodo and learning more about Kaoru. It was a great story and it would be amazing to see it as an OVA. 8 years since your post and it still hasn't happened 😭 We can still hope!

Yeah I agree. I dont have a problem with Hijikata too but I really want to see Okita's route turned into an anime. He's my fav character in Hakuouki, the second one is Hijikata. Maybe we can hope that someday they'll make every character's routes into an anime or OVA. I just love Hakuouki sooo muchh 😭💙

Okita Souji was the one in love with Chizuru, he said that in the first episode. He used to appear to protect her more than anyone else. When he fell sick, his place took Harada Sanosuke, but he treated Chizuru like a sister. Meanwhile, Chizuru was in love with Hijikata, he only fell in love with Chizuru at the end of 2 season. Souji has a wonderful personality, playful and intelligent.

When i first played the Game i was really eyeing for Saitou's route or Hijikata's. But throughout the story i felt myself getting drawn to Souji. His playful smile, cheerful personality and bickering jokes was enough for me to choose his route. There was something in him. The moments that he shared with the heroine felt so REAL! His character was the MOST DEVELOPED among all of them and someone you can deeply relate into. And this is why this game is by far one of the most beautiful well-paced Otome Game ever. I still Love Souji Okita up to this Day. He left a place in my heart, together with my other otome husbands lmao

​@@baileylowery4929 ​For some reason my message keeps getting automatically deleted. There is a PC version. It's in two halves - Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms. Kyoto winds is the first half, Edo Blossoms is the second half. All the characters' routes are quite similar in Kyoto Winds but they really diverge in Edo Blossoms (and EB is where the romance takes off too, although there are some sweet moments in Kyoto Winds). If you get the game you'll need both - the game was split in half because they added heaps of updates to it and it was initially released on PS Vita which didn't have enough space for all of the new content. Plus KW was released a couple of years before EB. There are older versions of the game on other platforms such as PS2, PS3, Nintendo 3DS but Kyoto Winds and Edo Blossoms is the version to get. Updated music (the soundtrack is excellent), updated graphics, extra scenes. They're not very expensive. I bought them both for a total of like AUD$15. Also, I think it's better to buy these games rather than get them illegally because the more sales they get, it shows developers that there is a market for Otome games in English. Because Otome and Visual Novels are not popular genres in English speaking countries, there are not many that get localised and sadly unless we can read Japanese, we can't play them. Just a heads up, it's a visual novel, so it's basically like reading an interactive book with great music and pretty pictures. Don't expect normal gaming experience, but if you like reading, this is a really excellent format!

When Chizuru is drying his hair and he asks why he does it, I think he expected to hear something like that because she loves him. Even if it was indirectly. That's why Souji bows his head, I do not know I see it like that. I feel like throughout the anime Okita loves Chizuru, but she does not see him, and he is so strong that he supports it in silence.

You're not wrong, in the game he has lots of similar moments with Chizuru, more so if you start hanging out with him and when you start dating him (more or less). He's always trying to make you say that you love him, find him sexy, want to sleep with him and so on... Alas Chizuru is playing hard to get and never answering, or in a very roundabout way XD ! But she gets as much as she gives cause then Okita also gets all tight-lipped when she asks what he thinks of her and what his feelings are and teases her. It's actually quite funny.

@@Mehrunissah93 hakuouki kyoto winds and edo blossoms. The anime is based off an otome game so you can pretty much end up with most of the guys depending on the routes. There is a route for : Hijikata, Okita, Saito, Harada, Heisuke, Nagakura, Souma, Yamazaki, Sanan, Iba, Ryouma and Kazama

Saitou died at age 72 in 1915 of complications of stomach ulcers. He lived a while. Souji, on the other hand, was 25 when he died of Tuberculosis.

omg I ship Souji x Chizuru more than Chizuru x Hijikata 😍 I feel that Souji is more closer to her even willing to protect her last time. Hijikata on the other hand, he just gets angry at her and only sometimes nice to her. I don't feel like he is close to her....he only appears at the best time for some reason like when Chizuru is in trouble :/

Same, Okita was my favorite in both the game and the anime... him and Chizuru seriously seemed to have the best chemistry to me, and those small moments when they would bicker was just adorable to me :3

I wanted to ship them too but after playing the game and seeing the anime/movie/ova and the musical, I just can't. They really feel like brothers who can't get along but still care for each-other deep down. Their bond is hard to glimpse but was made apparent in lots of tiny details in all adaptations. Now shipping them feels incestuous to me haha !

@Miki X, I agree with you~ I also feel like Hijikata was pissed off with Chizuru, especially in the 1st season, he would shout at her and get angry with her and when that happened Chizuru would feel uncomfortable and on the edge of crying...I must say that Hijikata is a handsome man despite all of that! He makes a nice couple with Chizuru, but I would like him to treat her more nicely and be more kind towards her. For me, the other couples would be without a doubt Chizuru-Souji, Chizuru-Saito and Chizuru-Kazama! I would like Chizuru and Souji to have more moments together and get closer....they make such a nice pair!

While I played Hakuoki first time, Souji's route was my natural choice (never watched anime or looked at walkthroughs - got bad ending once, though). I love Hijikata's story but in different way. It was heartbreaking, but focused mostly on his feelings towards Shinsengumi, and his personal tragedy, while Souji's was more romantic one. Even in common route interactions between Okita and Chizuru reassured me that he deserves more attention.

In Urakata, Takasugi and Okada are now voiced by Gintoki and Sougo. Zura was voiced by Judai Yuuki and Glover is Cloud Strife. Just search Urakata Hakuouki and watch the trailer dude.

I bet you've already seen the series by now but just in case: Shinsengumi Kitan is the first season with Chizuru and it goes into Hekketsuroku the 2nd season. There's Sekkaroku, which is like 6 OVA episodes of fun (like there's some crack stuff but it's hilarious and nice after depressing season 2). Then there's Rei-something that is a prequel to it all. Also a short special with a cat somewhere in between. xD Oh and then SSL game clips. This is for anyone confused!

I died at the age of 26 I am the reincarnation of souji. Sano died from his wounds a few days later, Hijkata got shot on horse back shattering his lower back he died a day or two later. Your correct with Saito and Shinpatchi. Heisuke died in the Aburanokōji incident in Aburanokōji, and in 1865 I Ordered Yamanami Keisuke to commit Seppku

I dunno why everyone cries. The anime is sad and all but the original game, which is the real story, not everyone dies. In the happy endings some of them live, one even has a child with you/Chizuru. And in the movies which follow the story much better Hijikata actually lives.

Everyone is probably crying, because even though the guys survive in their happy endings, other guys would die. -SPOILER- . . . + I think that Souji's happy ending was actually kind of sad, because it suggested that Souji died in the end because of his tuberculosis.

Played the game Demon Fleeting when I was 18. I don’t know why in the hell I decided to play again (considering I was traumatized by the endings) but meh, it’s the PC version now anyway.
