I think that might have been one of the best things he might have done. Firstly if you look at how it shaped the young music scene in the early 2000s and all the way to today. He basically made being conservative and sensible the coolest thing, which in the culture that was being born then, was a crucial and amazing feat. I mean, as much as I really enjoyed Maskiri's music as a young guy, imagine if that had been the defining work of the Urban Groovers instead of Tauya Naye and Vabereki.. Secondly, I'm almost 100% sure I would not have clicked on this video if I didn't know who he was, if it wasn't for his fame. I suspect I am one of many, and those are all souls who would have missed the wisdom and inspiration he's giving here. I suspect it has also opened doors for him to do the amazing work he's describing here and the amazing work he will most likely continue to do.
