I just never get tired of this song. Just as good today as the day it was released...maybe better 'cause now it's an old friend.

He was one of the most amazingly talented singer / songwriters and entertaining story tellers ever - across all genres. Such a multitalented artist it broke my heart when he died but oh how lucky I was to have lived in Nashville in the 90s and to have seen him perform live a few times. Oh so easy on the eyes he was for sure - I was fortunate enough to speak with him after one of his performances I don’t think my heart stopped racing for hours … and this video and song is just happy AF. Rest in peace beautiful music man - You are missed. ❤️❤️

Love the song but the video sent it in a complete different direction. This momma knows the highways now by heart since I drove truck for 47 years.

Oh wow ! I am seriously considering it myself I have no ties my daughter is blissfully happily married - I truly truly love to drive and travel and I am happiest when I am never in one place for too long I think it’s so amazing to hear about read about female truck drivers I love it!

I totally agree with you about the video. They should have shown a hard working lady truck driver driving her rig, instead of the video they made. As a lady trucker who logged 1,700,000 accident free miles in 48 states over the years, I could have been featured in this songs video AND shaken my pretty little ass. The video missed the whole point of the songs lyrics.

I remember the Summer 95 I was upstairs in my room at Mom and Dad's and I saw the video on CMT. I remember I sang along 2 the song. "Country music, uh we have 2 rejoice that Hal is with God and His Son Jesus in Heaven and we'll see Hal again someday when God takes all of us 2 Heaven". On November 23, 2020 God wanted Hal 2 go 2 Heaven. So God took him 2 Heaven. Hal's pain free, sorrow free, suffering free, all better, and all new. "See U Hal someday in Heaven".

I had a dream about Hal last night. I walking down a suburban neighborhood . As I was turning the corner of the sidewalk I started singing mama knows highway. Then I heard a voice tell me" your singing my song buddy And! And sitting next to a fire hydrant resting from doing yard work and having drink was Hal Ketchum. He was was laughing and started singing and then the Cabazon dinosaurs appeared 🦕🦖🦎🦕🦖

WHY didn’t the makers of this video put a female trucker behind the wheel and show her driving her rig??????

I'm confused, is momma a new truck driver that has figured it out? Is momma a lot lizard? Why is momma dancing on the hoods of trucks while the kid watches? Why does momma know the hwy now? Did she leave daddy? I NEED ANSWERS!!!
