Hal was one of my most favorite singer song writer. During his peak of his career I saw him at a small club in Philadelphia. It happened that that night due to a storm the club lost its electricity, the place went dark in the middle of him and his band paying. Hal did not miss a step, and he had the whole place filled with candles and he finish his show playing solo, best impromptu performance I’ve seen. We will miss you Hal. Keep playing your great tunes to the Lord.

This is a song performed and composed in Ireland, a song absorbed into American/Country music by Hal Ketchum, cementing the musical relationship between America and the 32 counties of the island nation of Ireland. Great Job Hal & Mary (Black), and of course Mick Hanly (composer) for continuing this exchange of American & Irish music. These songs are very similar except for the tempo (faster or slower) keep em coming.

My daughter surprised me with tickets to see Hal and Kenny a few months ago. We walked in and the front row was empty....but not for long A dream come true. Holding her hand as he sang I Miss My Mary will be with me until the end. And after, we got to meet him out back and share a smoke and a couple of pictures. I won't lie...I was a total "fan girl", and forgot everything I wanted to tell him about the way his music healed me, and bridged some mighty big spaces with my girls. My daughter's gift to me that night, and his and Kenny's gifts, beyond words.

Hal Ketchum has always been one of my favorite artists and still is to this day. Don't let the Slayer logo fool you. I was raised on country music and even though I may be more of a metal head now, everything from Johnny Cash to Garth Brooks still amazes me. All genres, especially country and southern rock, take a lot of talent to write and perform. Even though a Metallica solo may be hard, it's even harder to get the feel and rhythm for anything really bluesy. Or at least for me it is. 👏 😃 🎸

Never forget the first time I heard this. I was going through break up myself, totally heartbroken. Listening to Coast to Coast at night cause I could not sleep.....One night at about 3a.m., on came this song and I loved it immediately, not to mention how I could relate to entire song. I went through hell and high water to find out the artist and song, (didn"t have computer). Bought CD and I swear I listened to this song 1 000 times. That was 15 years ago and still one of my favourite ever!)
@TheCalico724 жыл бұрын
I had to respond because, except for the Coast to Coast part, my experience was the same! The breakup, the immediate connection to the song. When I finally had the cassette in my hand, I almost had a meltdown because I couldn't peel the plastic off. My daughter, who was a teenager at the time, said, "Mom, you're scaring me." LOL. And here I am, too, still listening to this song.

This one and ( I know Where love lives) are two of the best songs ever, well i cant leave out ( I miss my Marry), Oh hell anything he sings is great, there i said it, I remember back when , The talk about how Hal could hold a note so long,, we would all try to stay with him on the one song, I forget the name of it, but anyway we couldn't do it in short, but we enjoyed trying to, good days back then, I have watched so many singers come to stardom and fade with the sun, but the great ones still survive , Like Hal, Thumbs Up , been listening to you for sometime now, still love these songs, thank you bro!
