I connect with this song on a personal level for a very simple reason. Novocaine doesn't make a heart stronger. It just doesn't hurt anymore.

This is the perfect song of the lifetime of abuse i sustained from my point of origin. I am honestly crying because this song shows the hurt, but passion and fight towards those who hurt us. Thank you Halestorm, thank you Haley you are a voice of all us young women (no matter what/where we started from) who escaped or are on that journey towards escape and freedom. We may have beaten down, but we stood back up scarred and stronger because of them.

I love almost every single song Halestorm has to offer...but this one is the one that I feel I need to stop everything and listen to. I even paused it and restarted it when it came on my Pandora at work today, just so I could wait until I was headed home and give it the full attention it deserved. There’s just so much passion, and it feels like it’s tugging at all of the scars on my heart and on my mind that will remain for the rest of my life, even if they have healed and become “numb”. I notice them in my daily life now more than I’ve ever had as I’m trying to make more lasting relationships with those I’m close to, but often find it’s too difficult - I’m so afraid of being hurt again that I won’t even let myself fall in love, let alone just make deeper connections with friends I’ve had for ages. It’s probably the exact opposite of what this song is all about, but I can’t help but feel comforted and empowered by it.

You put it in better words than I have. Unwilling to feel. It's not incapable of hurt, a heart is just incapable of pain. It's not that a novocained heart can't feel, it just won't.

This is one of the first songs I heard Lzzy high scratch heavy and sustained, obviously we all knew she could but man, I instantly was reminded of Pat. Sometimes is not a lover who hurt you so much that left you numb. Sometimes is your family, sometimes a parent, a sibling... the only prerequisite is you loves them so much you can give your own life just to make them happy. They lie, manipulate, hurt you using that power over you. Then a day you wake up from that nightmare, starting to see what they're doing, and they don't like the change, but there's not going back at that point.
@kaded_cat3 жыл бұрын
@@VRiz This puts a new perspective on it because I do have family issues and I’ve realised it’s emotional and mental abuse not too long ago, so now I can relate to this song…. Because of the way that _they’ve_ left me scarred-

@@kaded_cat Feel u! I was in that situation until a year and a half ago, this song was like an anthem (still is), some people are s*it, even if they're family, heck, sometimes they're worst.

@@VRiz Family are the worst…. And the worst part is, I’m 16 so I still live with my parents, but I can’t wait to just leave them all behind…. And maybe ask them to REALLY listen to this song and think of me…… Unfortunately I can’t listen to this song right now, but the lyrics are running through my head and I’m relating even more…. Especially with my dad. “And now I’m angry and you wonder why” I definitely relate to that line- Who knew I could use my dad’s music against him? I mean I’ve done it before where I’ve literally looked straight at him whilst singing a song about parents messing up their child. Thanks for this realisation… and I’m sorry that you too had to go through all that too-

@@kaded_cat Yeah. I started listening to this kind of music when I was so down in depression due to the conflicts with my family.
