I first saw one on the UK's Top of the Pops, the band Family (who became my favourites) playing their single In My Own Time. Jimmy Page popularised it around the time of LZ4 and in the Song Remains the Same movie. At the time they featured one 12 string and one six string guitar - though I heard at the time they were mainly for show and weren't that practical (something to do with a bleed from one guitar into the other guitar's pickups or something, I don't know). I do still believe that they're used more for their visual appeal (as in this video) rather than for practical reasons - I mean you'd think anything Jimmy Page used would have caught on a lot more, right? Urgently, buy this wondrous book, "Love Medicine & Miracles," written by a surgeon called Dr. Bernie Siegel. Dr. Siegel saw many of his patients heal from Cancer on the basis of faith. I gave it as a present to a cancer survivor and he told me he initiated a chain for others to do the same. Concentrate on the ch'i energy inside your body, make it circulate because cancer has to do with blockage of that energy. Do not let crass materialism, even in medicine, make you believe you are doomed. Dr. Siegel is a spiritual being, not just a physician.

Like me, my neighbor Dan is young at heart, at 66. So I visited Dan and asked them to play this video, which he did not know anything about. He was glued to it until the end, and told me: "She has power. And take a look at how they use instruments not designed for heavy metal." Indeed, the beginning of this beautiful song is perfect, a sound not heard in metal but so nice: I listen to it with tears in my eyes, not once for dozens of times. Halestorm, please pen more songs like this one. I call it fusion music, as I hear a little of other bands blended; a far away echo of Maroon 5, a bit of Sixx am, wow! And I am a big fan of Epica, so for a song to move me like this, it has to be amazing, as this track indeed is. Plus Epica really does not have even one video as coherent and beautiful as this one, super! And the lyric: "screaming like a siren, my heart cauterized," how beautiful.

Agreed. She's got a gorgeous voice, with just enough smoke in it to really pair well with the hard-rock and classic-heavy-metal sounds. You can't sound too clean on those, or it just doesn't work.

thank you Halestorm for making that song. it's an amazing song and the lyrics are unbelievable and inspiring. usually the only songs that give me goosebumps are songs that were written in the eighties no songs written nowadays make me feel much of anything I think all the talent is gone. but you guys actually have talent. the lyrics give me goosebumps. you guys rock

This song feels like somebody just coming to understand their own awesome strength. Like one of the young X-men characters when they learn to control their gift rather than fearing it, and transform from "insecure odd freak" to Invincible Superhero. In the last chorus when she sings "I Am The Fire" I get fucking chills. A combination of excitement, FEAR and absolute amazement. This is some powerful shit.

What a voice. What a range, dammit. I listen to Halestorm for like about ten years now and still can't get over how impressive Lzzy's vocals are. Beautiful and harsh at the same time. Possibly the best female singer in rock/metal business. Yeah, she really is.

Why no comment is including the fucking inspiring lyrics???? Here it is: Oh Am I brave enough? Am I strong enough To follow the desire That burns from within? To push away my fear To stand where I'm afraid I am through with this 'Cause I am more than this I promise to myself Alone and no one else My flame is rising higher I am the fire I am burning brighter Roaring like a storm And I am the one I've been waiting for Screaming like a siren Alive and burning brighter I am the fire I've been sacrificed My heart's been cauterized Hanging onto hope Shackled by the ghost Of what I once believed That I could never be What's right in front of me I am the fire I am burning brighter Roaring like a storm And I am the one I've been waiting for Screaming like a siren Alive and burning brighter I am the fire I don't believe I'll fall from grace Won't let the past decide my fate Leave forgiveness in my wake, oh! Take the love that I've embraced I promise to myself Me and no one else I am more than this I am the fire I am the fire I am burning brighter Roaring like a storm And I am the one I've been waiting for Screaming like a siren Alive and burning brighter I am the fire I am the fire I am the fire I am the fire I am the fire I am the fire

I love Lzzy and Halestorm for so many reasons. As a woman who has had to fight thru life to find my way and recover from abuse and insecurities...no one more than myself wants to stand proud and be able to voice these lyrics. I am convinced that only those who have walked thru fire can put a message to the words as she does here. It's why I go to music for therapy. You can't get this thru text books and statistics. She is the real deal because she's lived it and I know..I have many female vocalist that I love from Janis to Pasty, to Carpenter to Benetar. In my strong ass opinion. Lzzy is all of the above. Pure, raspy, feeling and power. She is my fav by a long shot. Super talent in a humble and genuine soul. I feel her desire to be a mentor and inspiration to the world and I don't even know her. God would I love to. At 54 and struggling to walk thru the flames, I am determined to help her set the example she is and has been saying thru her music. Lzzy I love you. You have changed so much of my life and because of this song, and of course so many more, it's everything I want to be and believe in. Thank you for you. And thanks to you band mates for supporting and keeping it alive for all of you..xoxox
