I presume it was because Adam Devine couldn't return due to other work, but I've never known for sure, I mean its pretty clear to me that they were setting Andy up as the person Hayley would end up with - Dylan always felt a little shoe horned in.

Everyone loves this because Andy made Haley an actual person instead of a stereotype. Then for some reason she went right back to being a ditz and married a loser. Andy's the only person who ever saw and brought out the real Haley
