So glad I found this video. I'll be asking for a port at my next cardio appt. Having to go to the ER over and over for IV fluids during a pandemic is scaring the life out of me. I kept my moms hickman infection free for 3 years I think I can handle a port.

Have you had any infections? How worried do you feel about the risk? My pots is severe and I've been doing peripherals for years. I'm just so apprehensive and not sure what I'm going to do long term, I'm glad this treatment is working well for you and you can do it independently!

Hi! Thank you so much for this video, it's really informational! I was diagnosed with POTS when I was 13 years old, I've had it for 8 years now. I was hospitalized many times since it got so bad. My POTS actually got worse through out the years. My doctor kept on putting me on medications, I take 25 medications daily which help some. My doctor recently prescribed me IV saline infusions twice a week. I have to get a new IV every time I receive an infusion. My doctor is planning on upping the infusions to 3 times a week, so I've been looking more and more into getting a Port-A-Cath. Do you think that's a good choice or should I wait? I'm a little conflicted about it at the moment. Thank you! ♥

Haley, I do enjoy your 101Rabbits but I am interested in knowing more about you! So subscribed this morning & I have been amazed how you have been trained to keep up your port.

This may be a weird question but can you do normal day to day activities when your port is accessed and being used. Like going to work or the grocery store kinda idea while you are currently getting saline? I am researching about POTS because they are like 99% sure I have it and I dunno if I would need a port obviously but like I drink a decent amount of fluids.. so I worry I will need one and my main concern is like I wouldn't want to be stuck at home for 12 hours every other day while its pumping in the saline. lol

I'm not saying this from personal experience but if you have a pump that administers your saline instead of a drip line I have seen a few people on KZbin just throw everything in a backpack and then go about their normal lives with the backpack on while they are infusing!

Hi! Thank you for this video. It’s been so helpful for me! I got that mighty well backpack because I need regular IV fluids because of pots too with my port. But my Baxter pump is incompatible with that backpack. What pump do you have?

I’m getting my port in 2 days and I’m nervous. The home health agencies in my area do not do peripheral IVs and my doc said I’m pretty much out of options so we are going with a port. I have major issues with dehydration, very low energy and chronic fatigue (I can’t even take care of myself 5-6/7 days per week), dizziness and I’m starting to almost pass out more often. I’m really hoping a port can help because I don’t have any more options for medications.

Hi Haley, thanks for this information! I just got a power port and am looking at pumps. What kind to you have and do you like it? Did insurance cover it?

How long did you or have had the port/cath for and have you had discomfort with muscle tension/tightness around the port, in the neck, chest and shoulder? I have had mine for over three years. If so, would you be willing to share if anything has helped? Curious if anyone else has experienced this.

You've inspired my to start my own channel about life with POTS and other chronic illnesses. I hope I can be as consistent as you. It's so nice to find someone I can relate to whenever they post content!

Hi, I have a question. I have pots, and I weigh 422. I'm getting a port on my chest for a potassium transfusion. I have to get it in when i have the gastric bypass. Have you heard of other overweight people with pots? I feel a little alone on this.
