"yeah it's hard to be someone yet it hurts to be nobody." dang. this reminds me of my days being in school, no one really cares about you because 'you have nothing to show' causing you to change your personality to fit the standard norm. joining clubs, competitions, taking the lead, being egoistic + selfish and studying hard are the conditions of being a "somebody" even though it's not one of my favs, it's still great in both live and studio!

Overall, this EP felt like a step in a good direction. Was kinda let down by COAP and the two subsequent singles of this year, but I felt like all four of these songs were either improvements or compliments to the originals--Nobody is better in studio, imo, but Make of It basically had a *redemption arc* with how much it improved in this EP.

@@calmcat5377 Totally. There's lot of aspects and perspectives that could be said, but here are some simple thoughts of mine, personally: Musically, it felt more basic. They did more digitally this time, I think, and it was more poppy and generic in its sound. Moreover, some songs felt insubstantial, like there just wasn't enough present (Did I Make You Up), or incomplete (Bad Thoughts). Also, a number of songs didn't feel like h•a, more like they were just imitating a different artist (Never Been Better, Call Back, Lost). That's not bad, but it sure doesn't help with everything else going on. Lyrically, it was honestly a huge step down, even from GMYS. *Now, Not Yet* shone because of its positivity and faith--regardless of where you fall, it had something encouraging to say. COAP had precious little to say in those realms, mostly focusing on relationships indtead... (THE most done and trote topic in songs, imo). Critically, it didn't have too much new or interesting to say on said overdone topic, which is essential if you're discussing what almost everyone else is already. Also, combining COAP with GMYS just made both messy. I enjoy them both noticably more by listening to (and thinking of) them as seperate albums. So yeah, those are some scattered thoughts. There's more to be said (both good and bad), but I've said too much already, haha.

Why do you feel you were let down? I personally loved COAP, but I'd like to know. Also I don't know if I'd say that this EPs Make of It is "better" than the studio but it definitely has more energy to it
