This song and video are an unbelievably accurate portrayal of the dark, painful odyssey of having a partner with a severe mood disorder.

It is a special gift when you run across a piece of art or writing that encapsulates what you are feeling. Especially if it is a particular sadness, or traumatic event or series of events. It can be comforting to know that someone else has felt the same way. And had the courage to express it eloquently. Being involved in something you wanted so badly... knowing it would eventually betray you. Always waiting for the hammer to drop. And when it eventually does, the inability to summon up the fight that had always been in you previously. Being demoralized by the way desire often overpowers intuition. And reality... The right song can almost allow you to romanticize your grief...
@joeboccuto86732 ай бұрын
Not just that, but when they do it so well, it can help you to express that feeling yourself in a way you may not have been comfortable before. Even further, it can make you feel more comfortable expressing other complex emotions moving forward, knowing that not only have others felt similar ways, but they can work through and express them in beautiful ways. I've been a fan of this band since like 08, but this is far and away my favorite song they have ever released

I discovered the black angels watching a snowboarding video a few years back. "Young Men Dead" was the song. Since then, they have become one of my favorite bands. This song compared to that is very different, but equally as powerful and probably top 3 for me... i think... I hant heard anything i dont love yet from The Black Angels. Next time i fly to Austin from Maine, it will revolve around a show.

Such a good video. I love the concept and the look and just everything. Alex Maas and the Black Angels are just so talented and make me glad I still live in the Austin area. Love levitation fest and psych fest. Thank you all for sharing your music with the world, it's truly magical.

I will die for things that mean so much to me If you take them, you better watch out So when she came to me, I was so in love that I'm half believing, half suspicious World you make me nervous I will lie awake and thinking of you It's like my spell is almost useless I will lie awake and thinking of you All these little things yeah, these pretty things that Make us lose our minds, steal your thoughts in time Yes you make me nervous, I will lie awake and thinking of you Why are you so dangerous? I will lie awake and thinking of you It's like my spell on you is useless I will lie awake and thinking of you In the fight for things I am so in love with I'm half believing, half suspicious And in the moment I feel like you're lying I'm half believing ohhhh Why are you so dangerous? I will lie awake and thinking of you It's like the spell on you is useless I will lie awake yeah thinking of you Feeling for you is hopeless I will lie awake yeah thinking of you Feeling for you is useless These feelings for you are hopeless I will lie awake yeah thinking of you I will lie awake yeah thinking of you I will lie awake yeah I'm thinking of you I will lie awake yeah I'm thinking of you

No pretense here and little irony... just a profound psychedelic aural journey. Alex Maas' voice is at once effortless in agony, melting into intonations of dark monotone. Of course he's channeling Morrison but then evolved from decades of underground expression. I really love this band because of the shadowed places I can travel to within the confines of headphones.
