Interested in the Incra Jig? bit.ly/incra_wf
Check out Timbecons website, tell them the Woodfather sent you! 😉
This is my very first project that I completed on the new router table & Incra LS Positioner that ‪@timbeconaus‬ set me up with. I've made this shelf and drawer unit for my home office, and I think it is a beautiful piece of furniture.
I'm very new to using the Incra jig, but I'm super impressed with it. Really looking forward to trying out some more detailed projects with it. In this video I use it to make 3 small drawers with halfblind dovetails. If you want to know more about the process, I've got a separate video which goes a little deeper, that one is over on Timbecon's channel. (or it will be soon!)
Let me know if there is a project or particular joint you want to see me make on the Incra jig, I'm excited to try them all!

It really is hey?! Looks quite nice in the shop too I must admit. 😉 There is a learning curve, but the result is worth it.

Many thanks KJ! I'll never say covid was a good thing as I know a lot of people really had a bad time through it, but, changing the way people and businesses work is one good thing that came from it.

@@woodfather I totally agree! Before (for me) a two hour meeting took four hours including travel, and you were just sitting there waiting for your turn to have the floor for like ten minutes. Now it's all Teams, the meeting only takes the time it takes and you can work on other things while you wait your turn.

I didn't know what it was when I got it to be honest! I assumed it was some sort of live edge bark or similar, but Chris (BuiltByChris) happened to come by one day and knew what it was instantly. I'd seen it only in small veins before, but google "Spotted Gum Sap" and you'll see what it looks like close up. I have one more shorter piece, not sure where that will go yet. Cheers for watching Karl 👍

Hi Mario, that is so cool, I am going to start making more maker type projects like this. Knowing that live edge piece was saved just for this shelf is so priceless and you really did it justice. Just for interest, how do you think i got here? A glitch in the matrix? I was wondering how I missed the notification bell and then I noticed I am here alone then I noticed the video is unlisted. BTW a beautiful and professional video.

I agree, a glitch in the matrix is to blame lol 😝 I uploaded this videoa while ago and set it to private, for some reason youtube has decided it is private everywhere but on a couple specific pages on my channel. I'd try and fix it but all good, I'll make it public son enough. 😊 Glad you liked the project, it's one of my favourites

@@woodfather thanks it was joy like stumbling upon a golden Easter egg. And then feeling guilty because I was not supposed to be there. It had 25 views last time I checked so maybe others found it too.

Hey bro. I'm just finding out about ur channel this very morning. Ur a funny baaaastd mate.. LOL. Only buzzin' with ya pal.. That spotted Gum wood?? Is really nice too BTW. Could u tell me one thing?? I watched ur video on building that workbench which was my 1st time seeing ur work and man u made some howlers of mistakes there but what I liked about it was u just ploughed on thru and built & finished it anyways. It did look good in the end but did u have any issues with stability btwn the top and the legs?? When u have loose joints like u had to shim up it causes issues down the line so I was wondering DO 7 STILL HAVE THAT BENCH in ur shop now or have u MOVED on from it. One more QUESTION I have if u don't mind me askin' bro...???, Is that router table system worth the outlay in dollars?? I know they're expensive to put them in, THE INCRA System?? That is a system that isn't really for beginners?? Or at least I thought so.. What would u recommend for beginners?? Do u have any videos making recommendations on tools needed for the beginner wood workers??

@woodfather 2 жыл бұрын
Hey mate, cheers for the message. Number one, yep, I still use that bench, and I use it mainly for hand tool woodworking, so I put a lot of pressure on it and am constantly hammering away on it. It is still solid as a rock, far more stable that I expected. Even considering that I like to remodel the workshop every few months and drag it from one side to the other. A couple years ago I did add drawers underneath, and put a plywood panel across the back of it, so that would have helped make it even more stable, but even before that I had no complaints. Now the Incra, I would say, definitely _not_ for beginners. It's amazing what you can make with it, but I also found it a bit difficult to understand. I really enjoy it and love the stuff I'm using it for, but I think it only makes sense if you batch out items to sell. It's too expensive for me just to have, so the plan is to put it to work, to help make things at a high quality that I can sell. I spent months practising handcut joinery and can now cut a decent dovetail, but it's still an hour at least for me to do it by hand. With the Incra I can make 10+ boxes in that hour. And no, I don't I have a video like that, but it's on the list, hopefully in the next month or so! Cheers, Mario

That's what I get for not pre-drilling holes, the top layer of ply in the backing splintered. If people were ever likely to see the mounting holes, I'd have routed keyholes on the back or similar.
