We also found a top for an oil lamp on Boxing Day, but weren't lucky enough to find a superb coin weight like yours, that is one of the best coin weights I have ever seen, well done.

Some stunning finds Nigel. That square of metal, was that part of a simple hinge at the top? I was thinking mirror compact. As for that flat sidewith 4 struts. Do you remember those cap rockets where you put a single cap in and threw it up into the air. It's either that or my imagination running wild. Definitely a very interesting assortment. I found a place here in new zealand with lots of 1820-1860s coins, george 4 half crown etc but no guineas yet, hopefully 🙃 did find a hammered algerian coin from 1820 though!
