I always feel sad when G-man parts ways, because he's been around since the beginning, he's one of the survivors of the first game, and he's been guiding us towards an unseen goal. It just feels like as he walks out the door, he's taking a little piece of you(Gordan Freeman) with him.
@GamingRevenant8 жыл бұрын
Well... After all these years periodically checking tons of videos and articles and opinions about him... and even the scene where Eli talks about him, I am more and more thinking that he is not really guiding US to a goal, but rather using us for one of his goals. More than a few times has he made clear that he would get rid of people or simply refusing to give people a chance to live because it was not in line with his own visions (they were in the way, at the wrong time, not strong enough, of no significance etc). On the other hand, I don't think that the GMAN is the most powerful entity in his own world, since as his name suggest he is some kind of 'governer', making deals for a certain goal on his own world or something like that. It is also known that in Half-Life 2 and episodes, if you spawn him in the middle of nowhere, all YOUR enemies (= combine and everyone against the rebels) will attack him on sight as first priority over any other foe. It was never confirmed by Valve if this was unintentionally, so it might as well be like an intended 'slip off' to kind of understand that he is only friends with the people or 'sides' he cares about. At last, while it makes it seems like he is evil in any event, it is also clear that he knew of Alyx her potential before anybody else. Despite Eli having some kind of regret that he 'owes' the gman for saving her life at the Black Mesa incident, it also means that the gman recognizes people that are of great potential. Everything taken together, it might just be COINCIDENCE that the survival of mankind or getting rid of the grasp of the combine on earth is in line with the GMAN his goals, but it might very well be that once the GMAN has acquired his necessities for his own or his world their sake, he will just get rid of Alyx or GMAN, or make them forgot about his existance. And don't forget this: If the gman didn't need Alyx or Gordon their services for any kind of goal as being an all-powerful, they would never even have known of his existance, and he would be able to do everything on his own, so there is a good reason WHY he needs us, the player, and Alyx, meaning he is restricted in some sort of way.

E3 many, many years later. After an exhausting and thoroughly underwhelming evening, the presenter makes some seemingly innocent joke about the show taking way too long. Then he says: "Maybe we still have..." Suddenly, all lights go out. Everyone is confused. A familiar voice comes loudly through the speakers: "TIME, DOCTOR FREEMAN? IS IT REALLY THAT TIME AGAIN?" As a Half Life 3 logo appears on the big screen. Everyone goes absolutely bananas. Best E3 announcement in history.

Personally, I hope that Valve hints at a new TF2 update, nothing too spectacular, but something that'll get the fans interested (kinda like Jungle Inferno). Then, 15 seconds into the short, the mercenaries all freeze, and "Doctor Freeeeeeman" plays as the Half life 3 logo fades into view.

Back in the day whe I saw this ending with my own eyes, I was of course heavily surprsied. But now seeing this after some time again I realise that the real meaning of this short meeting is deeper than I was able to realise when I was younger. I see how G-man indeed struggles to speak simple words. I see how there are some weird "phases" of flashes that happen inbetween his speeches. And most of all, I finally seemed to have understood where did G-Man go right at the end. For all these years I was confused, thinking it was a door that appeared out of nowhere. Now I hear it perfectly. It is the same tram you rode 20 years ago in Black Mesa Facility, and quite possibly time has never really mattered for your future. Ironic how throughout all the games : Half-Life, Half-Life 2 and Half Life 2 Episode *two* you always end up in a train at the start. Like a joke to your so-called freedom, always reminding you that you may never have even left that same train after all this time. Weird, but very possible And after all of this, the only time you didn't start "the game" in a train was Half Life 2 Episode One, where G-man did not have his way with you. Curious.. Although I am afraid only fan interpretations are possible at this point.

I think you may be on to something, the same way Alyx from the past was actually physically taken from the future I think some multiverse multiple timelines kinda thing is happening here. Gman need 1 timeline phyisical copy to serve as an anchor to change all timelines wich runs with the theme of souls that very much exist in the HL universe, it may be that the Soul of one individual is actually a singular soul that embodies all our different timeline versions of ourselves (this may be the case of the Vortigauns, 1 colective soul for their entire species)
@Sir_Fast2 жыл бұрын
@@maddieb4384 yah I was thinking that too and also don't you ride a train in episode 1 to get to another part and the train crashes? And then of course riding the train at the end before the citadel blows up. Wow I never realized how many trains the games have, now that I think about it

Gman has to be an agent of another alien race far more advanced and capable of interdimensional travel, even being able to control space and time. Just finished HL2 for the first time today. Having the reins yanked out of your hands this way at such a climactic moment is like reaching the end of a timed demo for a highly anticipated game. You (And Gordon) want to continue, but the decision is not yours to make. It really sells the idea that in this game, you're not your own person. The G-man and his "employers" own you.
@ludiich3279 Жыл бұрын
So what happens is: Gordon did such a great and quick job in Half life 2 that Gman's employers were amazed by it and offered Gman even more work for Freeman to do (Perhaps on Earth, perhaps somewhere else). In this ending cutscene Gman has more respect for Freeman than at any other time in the game. He praises him for being such a good employee and even apologizes for controlling Gordon's life in such a way because of some unforseen consequences caused by the resonance cascade (which itself was indirectly caused by (my theory) Gman saving young Alyx from death that is somehow caused by Eli's negligence at some time in Black Mesa, and making Eli repay him by conducting the test on the crystal and eventually bringing the combine invasion of Earth, which is what his employees wanted Gman to orchestrate). But he's not only apologizing for Freeman not really being a "Free man" because of someone else's negligence, he's also telling Gordon that "It will all make sense" to him in a friendly manner, perhaps implying that he's not really Gordon's enemy and in the end it would all work out in Gordon's and Gman's favor (I believe he's not specifying the time because he's simply unsure how long it would take Gordon to complete the new tasks provided by his employers). At the end, Freeman is put into stasis until Gman is ready to give him a new task, and Episode 1 begins with Gman returning with a new task ready for Freeman only to be stopped by vortigaunts releasing Freeman from stasis and tempering with his control over Gordon up until they are distracted by Alyx's wound right before the "Heart to heart" speech. But at this point Gordon has already diverted from the Gman's original plan which has angered his employers. Gman had no other choice but to fire Gordon and turn to his plan B that he had in mind back at the end of Half Life 1 - hiring Alyx as the new employee that will replace Gordon (He talked about how he noticed the potential in her when he (probably) saved her in Black Mesa in, again, "Heart to heart" speech to Gordon). Out of respect for Gordon he gives him one last task - to deliver Alyx safely to white forest, where he can cause the advisor to kill Eli so that the events of Half Life: Alyx's ending can take place and he can convince Alyx to save her dad in exchange for being hired by him. After that, Gordon is free of Gman's control and can do whatever he wants to, but without the help of Gman. TL;DR Gman is Gordon's friend and ally until the events of Half life 2: Episode 1.

It was a semi-open world extremely lineair experience but with a hardcore vibe. Like this is going to be played by people who got a strong pc and at a time where everything felt older, social media wasnt there and MySpace at best. This game is from a time cellphones were old Nokia's and getting this game likely required a physical copy. There was xbox og, gamecube and ps2 the world was simpler and navigation meant strategy guides. The game itself other than good is especially a memory of that time where everything still felt right.

Shigure is best girl gman has his own version of the world. He’s basically gordon from another universe or from the future, (G)ordon Free(Man). Gordon not being a stand user, can’t see gman’s stand. Unlike Dio’s and Diego’s Stands, Gman is capable of teleporting without timestopping and opening dimensions from other worlds. Part 9 is probably The Half Life Series.

Heres a question: Who's piloting the VTOL? Maybe one or two Pilots who impressed GMAN are flying the thing so maybe he has someone to talk to

Fun fact: The guy who voices the G-Man also voices Barney Calhoun. (And every single security guard in Half-Life.)

I just realised that when he says "arbitrary imposition" he's referring to the fact that he made a meaningless choice for you, and implies that there's a specific reason for this (I suppose that he 100% needs gordon for something, and we never see what that actually is because the vorts rescue us.)

The ending of hl 2 is so disappointing, but in a good way. You get so invested in the moment, you forget about the gman. Then he shows up, and there is no care in the world for what just happened. Thankfully, episodes 1 and 2 happened, but can you just imagine if there was no episode 1 and 2, this would essentially be the last we see from HL. Valve really did a great job.
