Bro this video is absolutely amazing. It's edited very well and I was really surprised when I saw that you only had 50 subs. You definitely deserve way more fame man. Keep up the great work.

Great video. I especially liked the point about "Add and iterate" principle. Games like Super Meat Boy also use this, McMillen said pretty much the same thing about Add and iterate in the Indie game movie. So I will be keeping this principle in mind when developing my current game.

Yea I really like the concept because it keeps the gameplay fresh without introducing too many things to keep track of. Good luck on your development!

I would like to know something: when you've mentioned that you felt that half life's movement was slippery, were you referring to half life or half life source? In theory both are the same game (half life 1), but half life source runs on the source engine, which makes gordon's movements a little bit faster than the original version of the game.
@jacksonx72512 жыл бұрын
I'm pretty sure it's just the original. I don't own Source on steam. My main issue with it was the deceleration speed, as it caused me to fall off some of the tighter platforming. Once I played a little longer I got used to it and it ceased to bother me.

"While most shooters with hitscan weapons are better with using regenerating health than health packs, HL2 is certainly an exception, as needing to search for health stations and health pickups reinforces the idea of scavenging and using the environment to the player's advantage" Hard disagree. While I agree with you that HL2's health system does that, I'd argue many shooters would be far better if they went back to a finite health pool model. Regenerating health not only removes that survival/rationing gameplay mechanic in so doing it removes a tool the designers have to vary player feel and gameplay experience in different zones of the game. Even more importantly, regenerating HP also means that chip damage is pointless. While in Hl2 gradually taking single bullets can eventually down you if they accumulate, regenerating health means the only way enemies can kill you is with overwhelming damage concentrated in a very short time period. You can get lit the F up, hide behind a wall, and then be good to go. Sure, it makes for more approachable gameplay, but it restricts the kinds of enemies and combat experiences that are actually viable challenges to throw against the player. The best case of regenerating health is the shields/HP mechanic of Halo 1. Regenerating health over the top of limited health pool. Allows both somewhat forgiving gameplay while also allowing for more varied combat experiences and resource strain.

Half Life is by no means better than Half Life 2. Half Life 2 is easily the best fps game ever, far better than Half Life. For many people Half Life 2 is the best game ever, including me.
@admiraldazed9993Ай бұрын
I can see why people would think the original is better. The biggest thing is that for all it's similarities, both games are quite different in style and tone, which I think is a good thing. I wouldn't say that I personally consider Half-Life 2 THE best game ever, but absolutely ONE OF the best games ever made. It serves as an excellent example of what video games should do right
@urazoktay794019 күн бұрын
@@admiraldazed9993 For me Half Life 2 is by far the best fps game ever. And it's also the best game ever for me. I can only think of Mass Effect 2 being close to Half Life 2 in excellence department.
