My opinions: Smg - I like the model alot. But the reload is a bit too flashy, and the stock folding upon mag release is a poor design choice. Combine rifle - model and animations are decent. The shiney texture is cool, if a bit distracting. Crossbow - animated effects on the bow look unfinished, animation is clunky and while the sound effects are unique, seems like a miss to me. Grenade - wtf he is not holding the saftey handle, the grenade should blow up in his face Rpg - awful model. What were they thinking. Gravity Gun - I really like this one. Is this an unused beta model by valve? If not, great work to the modeler. Crowbar - I thought it looked silly in the beggining, but it grew on me. It has character, and animations are decent. Overal, a mixed bag. I'll stick to vanilla.

They didn't even really try to improve the Magnum. All they did was make it look shinier. The reload animation still has no speedloader and the chamber is still not attached to the gun.

it's a nice showcase. also what I don't like at all in these custom mods is how often the modder(s) remodel and reanimate the pistols, but they always forget to make the hammer move. also lolling at that guitar sound from left 4 dead in the bow.

Meh, most of it are just polished models and updated sounds. I didn't really like the SMG for two big reasons, the reload made no sense at all and the barrel would go back into the actual gun but I guess it can do that because the combine made it, except there is one problem, the combine didn't make it, it's an MP7. The pulse rifle was really well done and that one was honestly my favorite. The shotgun might as well be the Black Mesa shotgun because that's exactly what it is minus sound and one or two other changes. The crossbow is... not even a crossbow, the crossbow is a resistance weapon made from scratch so why is it "Combine Technology" here so to speak? I understand the grenade being combine because well... it is. Regular grenades don't glow red and beep, but those do so that reskin made the grenades fit in that universe. RPG is literally the HL1 rpg except somehow downgraded, really lazy work on the creator's part. Nuff said. I like the gravity gun honestly, actually giving it moving parts makes it feel more like a cannon that defies the laws of physics than just a glowing paperweight. I do not understand the crowbar, why? Seriously, why? Why would you put a saw blade on it?! It's a crowbar! Jeez. Other than that, the mod is relatively good, relatively being a strong word here. I'd love to see another mod like this just without the... nonsense.

The aesthetics of this mod are pretty good, but there are some things that are buggering me: 1) The MP7-oid SMG got an INSANE recoil from a grenade launcher. I mean, yeah, it's a PDW, a small gun, but man, does it really kick like a mule? And the launcher looks like it could fit a fist while there's barely any use in something above 40mm. 2) This goes waaay down to vanilla version, but aren't those horseshoe magazines actually containing the charge capacitors (dunno, not an energy weapons expert) in their entire area? Because otherwise it appears like they actually got the shield plates attached to them, which is like... Uhh... Having a bayonet attached to a Glock magazine? And also, aren't these acorn-shaped charge cells actually kinda individual rounds? Just asking. 3) The hot rebar crossbow, an improvised weapon made out of junk by the Resistance craftsmen, got replaced with... This. I mean, yeah, this force bow looks cool, but it's so out of place... I deem it as a downgrade. 4) The spoon. Grenades got spoons for one reason: they need some sort of a failsafe to prevent them from blowing up prematurely (e.g. when used as an anti-personnel mine) and a spring-loaded piece of a bent sheet metal is actually a good and cost-efficient way to do so. So, Gordon really should hold onto that spoon like his life depends on it. ... Oh wait. It actually does. Other than that, this custom edition is a cool model pack to enhance the HL2 experience in case you cannot/don't want to install Half-Life: Alyx instead.
