Kelly Bailey, David Speyrer, Eric Kirchmer, and Greg Coomer all had their faces merged together to make one Gordon Freeman face to use on a 3D model. The model was used by artist Dhabih Eng as a reference to paint all the promotional art and boxart. It also appeared in the Japanese arcade version “HL2: Survivor” and was later ported by players to use in GMod and other games and tools.

Half-life would have been right up my alley, but I actually got it years later, and only after plaything through Half Life 2 and Portal from The Orange Box. It's neat to go back and see where it all began, and how it was the product of talented people who really cared about their craft!

Yes there was another chap (Steve Coomer?) but I'm know many people thought Kelly Bailey (genius who came up with al that music..) was the model for Gordon Freeman too..

Half Life was my first video game. Holds great memories back then. The whole thing of booting up your PC. Putting the key code in. Half Life 2 blew my mind years later. Loved ep 1 and 2. Wish they finished it properly. Now all the OGs have left Valve that were involved in Half Life including the main writer Marc Laidlaw, who did provide closer with his ending for episode 3. Gabe just doesnt care anymore. Same has happened with Todd Howard and Bethesda. Once kings. Starfields an absolute joke to what they could make.

I think he's saying that valve just reused the quake engine. But this is somewhat true. Valve modified quake into goldsrc and instead of making it all action based and badass with a cool character you play as. They instead made you a theoretical physicist. There is a HUGE difference between these 2. And half life is in NO way stolen.
